  4. Re:eBay is a JOKE on How Amazon and Google are taking eBay's Business · · Score: 1

eBay and Paypal rank way up there as the most evil companies on the net. I have a friend who sells via eBay, and from what he's been telling me, eBay has been making it harder and harder to get refunds on failed auctions all the while increasing their fees.

Sellers really only have themselves to blame for this. For instance - I bought a calendar on ebay once, and when I got it - it was a recorded cd with images from the calendar on it. I told him I wanted my money back, he gave it back sans shipping. When I called eBay up about it the CSR on the phone said that the seller had claimed I was a non-payer and they credited the auction fees to him.

The hottest I've ever seen it get was after playing several hours of hl2 it got up to 72 deg.

A new server has been rolled out and is ready to go, but I haven't had the time to call india and spend half an hour on the phone reactivating this license once the software is moved.

I already used up the online activations when I switched out the hdd, and then when I updated the ethernet card to gigabit, and then I had to call in when that card was replaced when it went bad.

Here's my main concern: they will succeed, and a significant "pseudo-clone" market will spring up. It will cannabilize Mac hardware sales. In self defense, Apple will force users to register their copies of OS X. No more slipping the DVD into the drive and clicking on "install". No, now you'll have to enter a 30-character registration number, and you'll have to authorize the OS within a certain time limit. In other words, I'll be jumping through exactly the same hoops that I've always hated dealing with in the Windows world.

9700/9800's do have serious quality control issues. I bought a 9700 close to two years ago here's its true actual story,

1st one > would start drawing artifacts on the screen about 30 seconds into the game.

2nd one > worked great for a week, then it started corrupting textures, and vectors (wierd protrusions would pop out of walls etc) and in 2d mode the fonts would look all sparkly, and when you typed the sparkles would change.

    3rd one > DOA - didn't post at all

4th one > DOA - also didn't post at all

5th one > Its almost been a year since I bought this card. This time I sent a letter with the 4th one stating that I would never buy another ATI video card every again, and that I had bought a Nvidia 6800GT (it has never drawn one pixel incorrectly no matter how much load I put on it - works great - and I would stake my reputation against them) and they could take their sweet time to send me a card that worked perfectly fine.

They must have read that letter because like two months later (compared to a few weeks for the previous cards). I got a card that worked flawlessly - no artifacts no font corruption, nothing but perfection. I promptly sold it to some buyer in Australia on Ebay.

And before anyone accuses me of having crappy hardware. These cards I tested on a myriad of different machines (as an example I took each card to friend's pc's to have them test) including Athlon's with nforce/via chipsets and Intel P4/P3 with Intel chipsets. I even bought all new Kingston memory for my own desktop because I thought that was the issue at first - that same memory is in my current machine and works perfectly. I can't remember the last time I saw a BSOD in windows - seriously.
