it's probably beyond estimating how many million man years will be wasted in school with these stupid laptops doing:
- teaching MS office (a free service to redmond) - doing powerpoint (a scourge if there ever was one) - scrubbing viruses (our new national pastime) - re-booting (because you always have to) - upgrading (because we have to replace the old holes with shiny new ones) - setting up the firewall again (why bother, your machine is crap)
oh, and everyone favorite.
- getting expelled because the idiot teacher put the test answers on the public share and you had the misfortune of clicking on it
didn't/doesn't Jobs have a health issue he's dealing with? that could explain his appearance.
it's too bad he didn't have a flying mokey to release for the gawkers wanting a mac-gasm. guess we'll just have to live with a reliable, stable system.
hell, it would cost real $$ to add true compatibility to IE. hell, someone would have to work the harder code. it's much easier to change the colors, mac-ify the icons, modify the file that has the version number embedded and recompile.
keeping IE 7 at minimum usability is protecting the Microsoft shareholder from needless expense.
besides, they are just getting an handle on the old bug list. changing IE would just open up a big ol' can'o'new bugs. they're just not going there. sorry.
I seriously doubt MS is going to "shut down" every windows box on the planet....searching for spam, eh? oddly spam finds the rest of us, but at MS they have to "search" for it.
it's appropriate that something with modest checks and balances hoses up the reporting of someone intimately tied up in taking advantage of a system with modest checks and balances.
what are they gonna use for a stabile OS? it's not like you can robots behaving like every version of windows. come on, robots are supposed to work RELIABLY

so, invite some people who have experience making a web browser that isn't utter and complete garbage to find out some tips.
like it's gonna matter, IE is destined to continue being what it has been. a boat anchor on a ship already laying on the bottom.
the Constitution is "just a piece of paper", so why would this activity stop just because it's been declared "officially" illegal.
I have no faith this will be discontinued, especially since they can just continue to contest the decision forever and ever.
