Linux is not getting bloated, some distros are. I use Debian and can fit my entire os and every app I need on one CD. I put a PGI installer, which was trivial to do, and started handing it out. People have been loving it. Not to mention that you can just download a net installer which is alittle over 150 megs and let the installation process download just the packages you want.
Or you can go the http://www.linuxfromscratch.org route and kiss a social life goodbye.
Not really. I have a Debian server PLUS plenty of free time with my family. I never have to tinker with my server at home, and it serves terminals on top of a web server. Debian really takes alot of the tinkering out of the equation once you get it up and running. I spent an afternoon last year setting it up and havnt had to mess with it since. Apt is the whip.
I am running Phoenix right now, release 0.1. For such a low release number, it sure is stable. I was able to play Java games with the Java plugin for Mozilla at Yahoo Games, as well as look at several heavy flash sites with the Mozilla Shockwave Flash plugin. It did crash twice at Geddy Lee's solo album site, and at ST:10 site. To be completely honest, those sites crash sometimes with Galeon and Mozilla with the same plugin, so I dont actually think its Phoenix's fault, and the sites didnt crash every time with Phoenix either.
All in all, Phoenix is a great little browser especially for a 0.1 release. However if you do use it, it may crash at heavy sites such as Shockwave based sites. Very impressive for a 0.1 release. I'm loving it.
Besides, the spinner and name just kick serious ass.
No kidding. I think its horrible what we Americans did over a 100+ years ago, but its just that, a 100+ years ago. The native americans have a pretty sweet deal right now. They dont have to pay taxes.
If you really want to fight for the rights of an opressed people, fight for the Kurds. Their land was stolen less than a 100 years ago!
I am just a stickler for security, thats all. We have 5 computers in my house, mostly for my work, and if they want to use the 'net, they have to do so with secure products. I won't have my work or machines compromised for the sake of "entertainment." If they can do it with Moz/Galeon and other open source tools that I know are secure, then they are welcome to the unregulated 'net in my house. I have a cd-rw so they can just burn software they download and transfer it;)
I have an American Shorthair Tabby cat, and we found him abandoned at 3 weeks old. Wasn't even weaned. We brought him home and our Labrador took it in as her puppy. Now the cat plays fetch, comes when you call him, sits on command, stays on command, etc. Doesn't think hes a cat at all, except that he goes in the litter box.
Of course, if you have an older cat and introduce a dog, it might work in reverse.
Your right, it was in the Michigan J. Frog cartoon. I've heard it outside WB thou from a couple of sources, including Prarie Home COmpanion, but thats not to say they didn't take it form WB!
She was pretty famous for a few songs back in the 60's and 70's. She is quite a talented singer-songwriter, a musicians-musician if your into that genre.
Your missing the point. When CD's first came out, RIAA claimed they cost so much because of the high cost of making the CD's. RIAA could make plenty of money charging 10 bucks considering the artist maby sees a quarter if they are lucky.

BTW, that DVD is great. The directors commentary is just flat spectacular.

Capitolize on that idea and you could be rich.

Yeah, like you get alot of human interaction from some of these 7-11 workers. Minimum Wage doesnt buy you much in terms of interpersonal relations.

Yet six more reasons why I dont allow my family to connect to the internet using MS. They can't be trusted.

Man walks into a bar with his dog, and says "Ill bet anyone 100 bucks that I can make my dog talk."
Bartender looks up and says, "Ill take that bet"
Man says to dog, "What goes on top of a house"
dog says, "ROOF!"
Bartender says, "Hey, wait a minute, he didnt talk!"
so man says, "Okay smart guy watch this...". He turns to the dog and says "Who was the greatest baseball player ever?"
dog says, "RUFF!"
Bartender picks the man and dog up and throws them both out into the street.
The dog looks at the man and says, "Maby I should have said Dimaggio?"

To add to this, DirecTV will already be converting the signal for their subscribers. Lost the link, but its out there.
By the time 2005 comes around, everyone will have a Terraflop of processing power in their toaster. Comon Sony, cant you do better than that?

In related technology, SNMP can also interface to lm-sensors as well, so you can check on your hardware across the net.

I would hope that with the popularity of TCP/IP and UDP that those packets will be managed at least.
How enlightened. Not many people can see that far. Mod the guy up.
Mod parent up! That is hilarous.
