I understand your position, but what I am saying is that most of Woody is very stable, has been for almost a year. They need to retire Potato and get on with making the next Testing, ie GCC 3.0, KDE 3.0, etc.
This is the EXACT reason I stopped using Debian. They need to get a clue. Debian is a great distro, don't get me wrong, but they need to stop screwing around with Potato and get Woody released. Potato is NOT a new relese, instead its a rerelease of an old codebase that is getting tired. Potato is getting on several years old, Debian needs to let it go.
Here is an example. I am not a KDE advocate or anything (Window Maker for me) but I noticed that all versions of KDE is still listed as "testing" or "unstable" while GNOME 1.0.55 is listed in the "Stable" package section? I'm sorry, but KDE 2.2.x is ALOT more stable that "October" GNOME which was released in 1999! Debian needs to get with it. Stability is one thing, but this is bordering on the rediculous. October GNOME was not all that stable, and KDE 2.2.2 is one of the most stable desktops out there.
I would use LyX. It is the best program under any platform for writing documentation. It may be different when you first use it, and will hate it the first time you try to put multiple spaces in a sentance, but once you get the hang of it you will cook through documentation extreamly fast. Its really a different way of approaching documentation. Plus, using LyX, you will be able to export it to a myriad of portable formats including PS, PDF, etc.
Being a huge fan of Star Trek, I have always wanted to see our society turn to a unified people across the globe. That is the only way to eliminate wars and terrorism.
And this world government does not have to be an oppressive coporate run megaconglomerate. It can be a government composed of by the people and for the people. Call me a silly sentimental US Citizen, but doesn't having a say in who runs your life feel good to you? Wouldn't that be great?
And being a Catholic Minister all we would have to do to come to this world government is to respect other peoples religions, points of view, to listen and not pass judgement on why people are the way they are. We could really all get aloung, from Fundamentailists, to Liberals, from Buddhists, to Athesists.
Seriously thou, of course Slackware will never completely die out, Pat could disapear and one of the users can just pick it up. For crying out loud, the installer is written in the common mans language: Bash!
My company could never use Slackware because we like a silly little thing called SysV Compatibility in initialization, ie/etc/rc.d.
These awesome developers are keeping Red Hat in ReiserFS. Almost immediately they release at least an update disk, which will give you the option for ReiserFS, then they release the ISO images with once a good number of security release have been put out, as well as the latest kernel. I depend on these guys since my company won't support Ext3 commercially, only Reiser and XFS.
I would say Mandrake for the absolute newbie. I still use it because I:
Like the UI enhancements (Mandrake Control Center, Menu Editor, etc)
Its the easiest to get ahold of, get the latest at your local Wal Mart (literally)
And no I am not a newbie, I have been using BSD since 1994 and Linux since 1997. I've used them all and once you get under the hood they are all the same. However everyone has their personal favorite and I love Mandrake. Look, I do Linux all day at work, the last thing I want to do is come home and dick with it. I just want it to work.
My dad however was able to transition to Linux from Win9x with SuSE and StarOffice. He is very happy and is getting very proficient at the Penguin.
I actually liked it, but I am into defence. Most people are not, they like to see scoring. Everyone at the party I was at hated it, because they wanted to see lots of TD's. It wasn't as exciting as say UofM's Citris Bowl, but hey, NFL can't hold a candle to college ball.
The jocks in my school didn't pay me any attention. Your right, the bullies didn't play sports, they were just assholes nobody liked, especially jocks.
I'm pretty annoyed, I'll tell ya that. There is nothing wrong with football. If you don't like the subject, don't read the comments. It would be like me slamming the Anime articles. I just dont read the damn things!
Although it was grainey and jerkey, I loved it. It will be a big improvement on sports if they utilize it everywhere else, especially Hockey. Can you immagine using it in a fight. "Lets see that jab at a different angle! Oh, and look at the takedown! Classic Hanson Brothers!!!"
NFL really sucks. I am a football fan, but in the purest sence. I can't stand the NFL, its ruining the game. Like the second to last touchdown. The guy was being tackled and the ball was flying from his hands. Just because he was touching it as it was falling over the goal line they counted it as a touchdown. Bullshit. In college ball, he has to have control of the ball as well as touch it on the ground.
That and the fact that all the players act like assholes.
Finally a big company deciding to listen to the consumers? Whats next, free stuff!

Thats okay, I hate all the distros so much I decided to make my own mistakes and build it myself (www.linuxfromscratch.org)

P.S. Please no flames on Catholicism.
paydirect.yahoo.com
Esentially the same thing as paypal except it uses the Yahoo backend.
Yeah, it would probably be easy to make a Palm into a detonator wouldn't it.
Amen brother. I use Mandrake because of urpmi.

Well, this DVD is why I bought a DVD player a few weeks ago.
What!! No Mandrake 8.0 RPMS?!?!?! We've been disenfranchised!!!
Don't forget the DVD player, DSS, 35 inch TV, and Stereo. Oh wait, thats my office! hehe (all except the 35inch tv, only have 27)

Sounds like you need some Re-education... SEIZE HIM!!!
So did I. That's Slashdot for ya, fashionably late as always. Thats why I lurk at LinuxToday for recent Linux news.
It wasn't a waste of time if your a Ravens fan! hehe

Thank-you.
It served its purpose for instant replays. I don't care about the quality, just the technicial aspects of what went-wrong/happened.
