The military and its associated industries have a proven track record of falsifying test results of anti-missle systems. The original Patriot in Iraq I, the tests last year, and now I suspect here.
Let's look at the "evidence": An artist's conception of a plane-based laser system shooting down a missle. This is similar to the "evidence" Powell offered to the UN for Iraqi mobile bio-weapons labs. It's coming up on two years later and we still haven't seen actual pics of those.
I'm not sure if this will work in written form, but your post reminds me of a joke.
Air France was beginning to fly out of Atlanta. They trained their employees for months to properly say "Air France" when they answered the phone (so that it does not rhyme with "dance"). It took months, but eventually the local accent was removed.
The first day of service, the Georgian answering the phone says "Air France" perfectly, but then continues "Canna hep ya?"
Small nitpick. Frozone movement was a dead ringer for speed skating, not skiing. I'd be willing to bet the animators studied speed skaters to get his movements down. Even his costume was a colorful version of the type worn by speed skaters.
I really wondered about that short. The message seems to be if you get sheered, you should just bend over, take it, and be happy about it. Given this week's election results, interesting advice.
Hey, it's all part of the "faith-based inititive". First it was money to religious organizations, then it was faith-based intelligence regarding Iraq, and now it's faith-based science.
I'd be willing to bet there's federal grant money out there right now studying "Intelligent Design" as an alternative to evolution.
The point is that even if Kerry wins the election tomorrow (a very big if), he will have no official capacity to do anything regarding Iraq or any other presidential issue until January. At best, he might be able to do some informal chatting with various world leaders, but assuming he wins uncontested tomorrow, the transition work begins and will eat up his time until inauguration at least.
From the account I read, it wasn't female players that were discriminated against, rather female characters in the game. A subtle, but distinct, difference.
I always like to do a parity transformation in such circumstances. Would there be a problem if a female god character was giving out goodies only to female characters in the game? How about a warrior king only giving out goodies to warrior characters, is that discrimination against non-warriors?
Just in case you are like me and didn't know what WiMax was, this link from the WiMax forum gives a pretty good overview.
In a nutshell, it looks like the max transmission is 268 mbps, but I couldn't find a quote for the range. It depends on implementation and frequency, whether it's single-to-multipoint or point-to-point.
The problem I have with Bluetooth is that all the adapters are device-specific. That is, if you want to connect a printer, you need to get a dongle specific for printers. Likewise for all other devices, or so it seems. Perhaps I'm missing something.
I've been casually following the development of Wireless USB (WUSB), but we're still at the white papers stages there it seems. Also, there are some indications that this will suffer the same non-generic dongle problem.
What I want is a USB dongle that can plug into any device with a USB jack, and wirelessly connect to a PC with a receiving station card/WUSB receiving dongle. Is there a reason this can't happen? I would personally be willing to sacrifice distance for speed, but YMMV.
Does anyone really care about clock speed anymore? Yes, I know some applications need all the muscle they can get, such as video manipulation and scientific computing. However, it seems the interest in clock speed has waned considerably since the 1 GHz mark was hit. Basically, unless you are doing high end gaming or one of the aforementioned activities, increasing clock speed does very little for you. Consequently, it seems to me that the inevitable increases don't garner the same excitement they once did--going from 133 to 166 MHz was a big deal. Going from 3.0 to 3.8 GHz isn't nearly as useful, though the percentages are the same.
I'm running Office 2k Pro with Windows 2k Pro on a Pentium 233 (original Pentium, not II, III, or IV). It runs fine. It may be a hair slower than my 2 GHz laptop or my 2.6 GHz work box, but certainly well within tolerance.
Taco went a little nuts and posted it as a published story before it went through the "from the mysterious future" phase. It's still there, and you can see it if you're a subscriber. It'll probably be up for general viewing in about half an hour or so.
Well, sort of: in this version, Frodo isn't seduced by the ring just before he's about to throw it into Mount Doom. Rather, he still has it around his neck, and Gollum bites off his finger for no good reason.
I appreciate your input for this, but it appears that the Samsung YP-T5V lacks the ability to expand memory, and it only has USB 1.1. I could live with the USB 1.1, I suppose, but I really would like for the thing to have the ability to expand memory. I assume it acts as a pendrive sans drivers, though the brief search I did on it did not indicate this.
It just baffles me that what seems to me obvious features, and relatively lowend, don't seem to be incorporated into a single player.

I wonder if the Tivo fanboys are going to go as ballistic as the Mac fanboys did when Real DARED to compete with them?

Well, hopefully the clock won't start until (if and when) he actually is sworn in this January.
Unbelievable. Shrub has been fumbling for going on two years, but Kerry only gets two days to clean up the mess.
It is fitting that these clothes, designed for geeks or at the very least technophiles, form a PAN.
I'll never grow up! I'll fight pirates! And if SpaceShip One goes commercial, I'll fly!
Ok, what's the business plan? And keep in mind, you have to factor in $100/pound for transportation.
"Vi-The Movie" wil be better.
Imagine, the same plot as Pi, but instead of plumbing the significance of that number, the protagonist finds deeper meaning in the vagaries of vi.

I'll take that challenge:
Light goes the same speed
For everyone everywhere
Funkiness ensues

The Doom movie has been "in development" at least since 1998 according to HSX.
Likewise, voting is civic responsibility for those equally bad at math.
Only if you give them your home address.
I've heard that joke in a somewhat different form:
Q: Why are men so much better at reading maps?
A: Because only the male mind is comfortable with the concept "one inch equals one mile".
I guess Taco doesn't like his mistakes being pointed out.
