"What can you do? I gained some insight into this problem several years ago when my research group performed an fMRI study of social conformity. We recreated a version of the famous Asch experiment of the 1950s and used fMRI to determine how a group changes an individual's perception of the world. Two things emerged from the study. First, when individuals conform to a group's opinion, even when the group is wrong, we observe changes in perceptual circuits in the brain, suggesting that groups change the way we see the world. Second, when an individual stands up against the group, we observed strong activation in the amygdala, a structure closely associated with fear. All this tells me that not only are our brains not wired for truly independent thought, but it takes a huge amount of effort to overcome the fear of standing up for one's own beliefs and speaking out".
Agreed, The Star Wars Kid Strikes Back, Return of the Star Wars Kid, The Legal Menace, Attack of the Lawyers, Revenge of the Star Wars Kid, all would have been better imho.
I think it's the same source your link provides. in hindsight there's a > sign next to the 100cd/m2, i wonder what that means, surely not "greater then", more likely "slightly more then" or "up to"?
"I resent that generalization" (fair enough, but i do know a lot of "toking grinders";) "I've never touched the stuff" (anecdotal) it's sticky. "I would say more that pot smokers have a tendency towards gaming, rather than gamers towards pot".:that would still support his (NON TROLL!) point (that a lot of gamers smoke). Rem sleep is reduced by pot, and thus dreaming. (Or maybe just remembering the dreams?). If suddenly wakened i can usually still remember that i was dreaming, but the memories of the dream are gone almost instantly.
If Lawrence Fishburne is there wearing a trench-coat, telling me he's not sure if I'm ready to see what he wants to show me, and trying to get me to take colorful pills, I'm going to look around for Gina Torres, after taking the pills.
Specification of the OTFT organic semiconductor : peri-Xanthenoxanthene(PXX) derivative hole mobility : 0.4 cm2/Vs current on/off ratio : 106 channel length : 5m threshold voltage : -5V
Specification of the rollable OTFT-driven OLED display size of a panel : 4.1 inch wide number of pixels : 432 x 240 x RGB pixels size of a pixel : 210m x 210m resolution : 121 ppi (pixels per inch) number of colors : 16,777,216 peak luminance : >100 cd/m2 contrast ratio : >1000:1 minimum bending radius : 4 mm driving scheme : 2T-1C voltage programming with OTFTs thickness of a panel : 80m Via Sony
All i can say from the specs is you'll need a pretty dark room to see anything. The sun has a luminance of about 1 billion cd/m2, fluorescent lamps about 10,000 cd/m2, the iphone-screen has a peak luminance of 428 cd/m2, and this is only 100 cd/m2. (cd=candelabra).Any stronger light-source shining on the picture (or your eyes)=less picture. That would mean almost all light sources with this tech so far, even reflected light/backlightcan be >100 cd/m2.
(and for the few and far that know not the original: i think it is exquisite also)
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
of everything is bullshit. "I'd rather be hit with a tazer then a 40cal any day." What's that, a 9mm? Of course you'd rather be hit by a tazer than a 40cal! Bullets: 25% chance/death, 30%/chance perm.damage (Red Cross figures) Tazer: "Although the company spins it otherwise, Taser-associated deaths are definitely on the rise. In 2001, Amnesty International documented three Taser-associated deaths. The number has steadily increased each year, peaking at 61 in 2005. So far almost 50 deaths have occurred in 2006, for an approximate total of 200 deaths in the last five years." Not very save at all, it would seem, but better odds than any bullet. "Nothing is 100% safe," agreed "and besides 99.999% of the time you did something to warrant getting hit, so its your own damned fault if you die." That's just utter bollocks. "friendly fire","mistaken identity","weapon system error","overzealous operator", i could go on, i seriously think a more realistic figure would be 25% of the time you did something to warrant getting hit. (and yes i've been in the army and handled many different weapons). Some food for thought on how these systems are going to be used (on us;():

Surely you jest.
This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today
It's time to dress up right
It's time to get things started
On the IBM tonight
And now for the origins of the muppet show tune
