why did they make all the pieces almost 100% alike? Jigsaw puzzles aren't supposed to have interchangeable pieces. Each piece should be somewhat unique.
Well, not all is lost... at least the pieces seem to have a little texture...
I think LED lamps are more attention-grabbing (distracting)
I was sitting behind a cadillac the other day in traffic and the brake lights and turn signals were really annoying me, but I didn't know why.
Then I realized what was happening. My eyes reacted quite strongly to them because they were LED lights. It was the instantaneous on and off times. I guess your eye gives more neural feedback to the LED instant-on and instant-off than the "gradual" on and off of incandescent lamps.
If you get a chance to be behind a car with LED turn signals, you'll see what I mean, especially in low-light situations (you won't be able tohelp it actually). Cars with incandescent lamps will have relatively gradual on and off sequences that doesn't "catch" the eye in the same way.
How about a reverse railgun? Maybe the cell also contains a magnetic coil while the railgun contains a bunch of stationary magnets. The trigger just shorts the cell to it's coils which using some minor disposable circuit throws itself out of the railgun.
from what I have read, t-mobile will make you wait until you've had service for 90 days before they'll do this. (I think you also need to be paid up)

Gimp Hits 2.0

Why is this rated -1 redundant? I think it's a valid point.
I think photoshop elements is pretty good and it doesn't trash the gimp to compare the two.
I have a canon scanner and it came free with photoshop elements which works on my mac. I don't know if gimp could invoke the canon scanner driver.
By the way, don't blow $99 on photoshop element because it comes free with canon scanners like the lide-50 which I believe is $99. It might even come with cheaper scanners, but I don't know.
It's almost as powerful as photoshop (I don't know what the differences really are), and it could complement the gimp.
It has some interesting features for beginners... dialogs to help correct certain problems with images and so forth.
Actually, I noticed the gimp can read.psd files, so it should be able to read in photoshop elements files. that's pretty cool.
This post is a little simplistic. I've downloaded mythtv and even used knoppixmyth which is even easier to use, but getting things to work are far from easy.
Bingo = between two days and a week of effort.
From what I can tell, all the people who've gotten mythtv to work successfully have used a hauppage pvr-250 or pvr-350. Other brands work, but need considerable tinkering.
I think I'm going to document my entire "journey" to help other people get going faster...
Smith of SBC said that even without regulation, the regional companies will continue to give competitors access to their networks -- but at rates set by the market, not by the government."
I wonder what "rates set by the market" means when you own the market?
I don't see why they just don't put (slightly) larger batteries in them. It would be interesting to know how they balance battery life vs size.
Strangely enough, my older 15" tiBook has a 61-watt hour lithium-ion battery. It has 33% more capacity than the new 15" albook battery, which has a 46 watt-hour battery.
The 12" albook has a 47 watt-hour battery and the 17" has 58 watt-hour battery. The iBook 14" has a 61 watt-hour battery and the iBook 12" has a 50 watt-hour battery. This is all from the apple store specs on the replacement batteries.
Why don't they just put a 100 watt-hour battery in the 17"??
hmmm... why not have strobe lights as turn signals then? ;)
That is indeed a small puzzle, but...

Wouldn't that qualify as a cartoon (since it's hand-drawn)
Mathematics is just Symbol Manipulation. I suspect computers are pretty good at that.
;)
Also, chess is just Pattern Matching... I don't know if humans have the edge there or not.

Who knows? I'm not an ee.
...and doing the math that would be 90 amps.
;)
So I wonder if they make those little T-splitter-thingies for dryer-type 220v electrical sockets?
I think even if these lasted only 100 cycles, the convenience in many cases would override the bad publicity.
Heck, people are buying batteries today that last only ONE cycle.
I wonder how much current draw battery chargers would use?
I can imagine that it would be significantly more than the 1.5A my 4xAA 30 minute charger uses.
So fast discharge is allowed as well...
At first, I thought of quick-charging camera flashes. Maybe even video with flashes? But then I started thinking about railguns and emp devices...
I'd have to say the "reimagined" Battlestar Galactica was quite good. It's a pretty engrossing show.
And the space battles had some really imaginative effects.

Actually, I noticed the gimp can read
No, not "Too... many... letters..."
silly, no letters will be found on the specs.
It will be like 48x8x48x16x4x8x8
There's already a game out there that does this.
the journey to wild divine
It uses biofeedback to control the game, which is a little different than the technique used in this game.

They usually have some crappy Dell...
I think that's the funniest thing I've read in the last month on /. ;)
You just need a coconut shell!
As a matter of fact, there are lots of things you can do with:
and of course, Some Basic Ingenuity...
Why not get A keyboard for $3.59 instead.

Hey, he probably wants to get rid of the money 'cause it's burning a hole in his pocket.
You're gullible if you listen to him. There is no award at
The award is actually at
So, I have flash disabled. When I clicked on that button, it gave me a big blank blue screen.

I don't know if enabling flash will make it any funnier...
