Sam Reed is a Republican, although he's the most neutral Republican I've ever seen, and the link you point to says nothing about the manual recount, it only addresses the next (last?) step in the election, litigation. He says Dino has a right to sue. Big deal, this is America -- EVERYBODY has a right to sue. Well, everybody rich at least.

Yeah, and that really annoys Dino, too. Too bad you're both SOL. Washington State Law assumes the hand recount is more accurate. So, by law, it is. Sorry, but if you don't like that then the time to change the law is BEFORE the election (e.g., sometime in the 19 1/2 years "outsider" Dino was in the legislature) not in court AFTER the election.

Well, I'm not a smoker, and I'm not a Republican, and I happen to like her. A lot. And I consider Dino a hypocrit, but he's a Republican so I repeat myself.

BTW, I offer proof that Dino's a hypocrit: his campaign ads calling him an "Olypia outsider" after 19 1/2 years in the legislature are proof enough of that, let alone his suing for a new election because he suddenly does't like the election laws he had 19 1/2 years to change. Can you offer any evidence, let alone proof, that Gregoire's a bitch?

Let me explain: Dino Rossi, the "Olypia Outsider" who spent 19 1/2 years in the legislature, is upset that the laws regarding elections -- laws he help shape and which he could have tried to change if he didn't like them -- resulted in his losing the election. I'm taking the FACT that he never tried to change the election laws as PROOF that Dino was A-OK with the law as it stood before the election, and the FACT that he's sueing to change the rules after the game is over by trying to force a new game (new election) as PROOF that he's a hypocrit.

"WTF?!?" I'll tell you WTF: the Washington election law assumes that a manual recount will be more accurate than a machine recount. Like it or not, that's what the law assumes. So Gregoire's 162 vote victory with a manual recount is, BY LAW, more accurate than Dino's previous 261 vote lead. THAT'S WTF, and if Dino doesn't like it he should have changed the election laws when he had a chance.

Funny how the judges are "activist" and should be removed when they rule with the law and against the GOP, but they're just doing what the people want when they rule against the law and for the GOP. When the GOP loses this one, watch for the judges involved to suddenly become "activist."

GOD, you SO do not get it! "Those people" have no choice! I have no choice! My brother has no choice! But your precious MAPS screwed us over anyway.

My brother's cable company is his ISP, and it's the only ISP he can use. My cable company is my ISP, and it's the only ISP I can use. WE HAVE NO CHOICE unless we move, and I ain't moving just for MAPS. A couple of years ago, my brother couldn't get my email for a few months because his ISP -- without his requesting it -- used MAPS to filter his email. And my ISP -- through no fault of mine -- somehow got on the MAPS list. You think my complaints had any effect on this situation? My ISP was all over MAPS right away, but MAPS was, as usual, so far up their high horse that they couldn't seem to remedy the situation. For months. MAPS is a pack of vigalanties and should be outlawed. Use of their "service" should be illegal.

Let me be clear here: Blocking anyone's email without their permission should be illegal. My brother's email should not have been filtered, by MAPS or anyone, without his permission. Due to their monopoly, cable companies should not be allowed to do this. We should be free choose our ISP, regardless of where we live. (the cable company actually told me they're not a monopoly because I'm free to move)

That will not stop the spamming. It will only stop the spam.
Question for all you pro-MAPS zealots out there: At what point does MAPS go away? What does victory look like? Because as I see it, even if all the spam disappeared tomorrow, MAPS would continue on because they would think the spam went away because of them, and that without them it would all come back. In other words, they don't know what victory looks like. Statements like "it will only stop the spam" show that you have no clue what the real world wants. But we know what you want, you want your little power trip. Fine. Be a big man on your tiny little campus, but know this: the world thinks your cure is worse than the disease.
FWIW, I do not use any blacklists, I read all my mail.
Yes, but does everyone you send to read yours? What if one of them is stuck behind a MAPS customer?

That all depends totall upon where you live. When I was a kid in Illinois (a while ago, the law may have changed) if you did ANY work on your own house it would be condemned and you would be forced out on the street and the door padlocked until you paid a union member to at least inspect and approve your work -- and the inspection would cost exactly as much as just hiring them to do the work in the first place. It had nothing to do with building permits -- you don't need a building permit to replace a lightswitch with a dimmer, but you DID need to have a licensed (i.e., union) electrician do the work. Hooking up a dishwasher? Two union members needed, a plumber and an electrician.

Now I live in Washington state, and I can do any damn thing I want as long as it passes inspection (if a permit is needed). So, as I say, it depends upon where you live. Fifty states, fifty sets of laws. Plus DC. Plus Guam, PR, etc. Lots of jurisdictions in the good 'ol USofA.

Once upon a time, many years ago, before Xbox, before PS2, before Nintendo -- before even Colecovision! -- there were ATMs. But before that, way back in the DARK AGES, there were no ATMs. Believe it or not.

And yea verily, the people were forced to leave their automobiles and go inside the bank, during banker's hours, no less, and stand in a line and hope they didn't get the long line but they always did, and then talk to a Live Human Being, known as a Teller, in order to transact financial business with the bank.

And the Lord created the Automated Teller Machine, and He saw that it was good. The customer could transact business with the bank at any time, 24/7, from inside their automobile, and the customer saw the ATM was good. And the bank was able to lay off all the Live Human Being Tellers and save a ton of money, and the bank saw the ATM was good. And the Live Human Being Tellers lost their savings, and their cars, and their houses, and they saw that the ATM was evil, but noone listened. And the banks decided to charge the customers for using the ATM, so now the ATM was not just saving the bank money, it was making the bank money, and the bank saw the ATM was Great! And the customer saw the ATM fees and realized the Live Human Being Tellers were wrong, all those many years ago. There's nothing wrong with the ATMs, its the greedy banks who will charge a fee for every little thing they can think to ding you for.

If they can meter it, they'll charge you for it, and they can meter the ATM to the penny. So they do. But don't give me any crap about how the charges are to pay the cost of operating the ATM when the whole POINT of the ATM is to lay off tellers and reduce the banks costs. The banks that charge ATM fees are the same greedy bastards who charge for all sorts of things that used to be free, like talking to a Live Human Being Teller. That fee is supposed to cover the additional costs of a Live Human over an ATM, so don't give me any crap about how much it costs the poor banks to operate their ATMs.
