..I will buy one when it has a video line in and I can hook it to my TV and record shows to it for the road. I think it would be awesome to tape the late show every night and then watch it on the commute to work.

I know, I can probably record it on my ReplayTV and then get it onto my PC and then onto the device, but I want it in one step!

Can this possibly be a coincidence that I can't get more data, and now someone finds an 'alien signal'? I think they'coming, they are trying to keep us from seeing them by shutting down Seti, but it won't work...I am getting out the Celestron and heading out to watch!!!

I wonder how long it takes for music companies or artists to artifically inflate the "legal downloads" of their music so that people think it is "popular" when they hear it on the radio on the Top 20.

And of course once it is "popular" people will start buying it to see what the fuss is about, thus selling more. Maybe I'm just a skeptic, but it seems like another way to get the same stuff to sell even more. Oh well.

Wow, you just popped my "linux insult" cherry dude. I must say, I have never been the recipient of random outbursts of stupidity before here on Slashdot. I have never run linux and likely never will. I know it is a decent alternative to Windows (which I use) but I can't play the games I want to on it. It's WinXP Pro for me I'm afraid, bear that in mind when you post here...not everyone is a Linux lover and not everyone is posting AC

  9. What will my Nintendo DS phone number be? on Nintendo DS To Allow Free VoIP Calls · · Score: 4, Interesting

So can people call me through VoIP as well, if I am at home using my DS or at a hotspot somewhere looking like a dork playing games? Will I be able to have it ring me while in the middle of a lonely single player game of pacman, when one of my buddies wants to get his ass kicked in mario party or whatever multiplayer game?

Let's hope that Nintendo does the "phone thing" better than N-Gage did the "game thing". I wonder if those two markets of portable electronics are ready to merge just yet. Maybe we're close...

The USB memory is only the first step. Now put a little GPS reciever in the knife, and let me load the USB memory with maps of the area I am camping/traveling in. It would need a little LCD screen to show basic roads or trails as well I suppose.

Basically I am looking for a leatherman, combined with a Garmin Etrex (or your favorite GPS). Now that would be useful...

I think we should just let them try to count chads again. There is already enough room for counting errors (regardless of which candidate you support you should aggree) with the limited methods of voting. No need to introduce more error. Let's get the ones we have now working before we pile on more.

Does anyone else hope that this new way of searching is actually an improvement this time? I hate the new search interface in Windows XP. For awhile I actually changed it back to the search interface from Windows 2000 (reg hack) but then finally decided that I better get used to the new one, since they would likely take away my reg hack down the road anyway.

Let's hope for an actual improvement this time around.

Geez, before you know it they will have the right to vote!

As stated already, I hope they hired her for her qualifications, and not the quota. I have somewhat of a personal view on things...

Don't get me wrong, I am married to a structural engineer (yes, a woman) so I fully believe in equality between all genders/races in all fields, but I have seen many instances where a woman or other minority had an unfair advantage at getting a job or getting accepted into a school.

I'm not trying to start an affirmative action argument, but let me say that from my wife's perspective she has had to ask herself many times "Did I get this job offer because I am a woman, or because I am most qualified?" And in my mind she was the most qualified, but it should not be a question that she has to ask herself. It is unfair to her, as much as it is for anyone not getting the job.

Also, things like quality of product will be at least partially available for review within a few months. Who wants to get one right away only to find out that 1/2 of all of them die or something?

Personally, I am just trying to get my iPod first! Help me out and sign up for a free one with my link. (not trying to be a spammer, sorry there really is content in the post...)

I must be out of touch with the hip crowd, because I only use my phone to talk to people. No games, no sms messages, no camera.

Sometimes I even turn my phone off when I am out somewhere. It's no fun to always feel like you're pinned down by technology. These days no one gets to unplug and have time to themselves because no matter where you are there are 5 ways to get ahold of you.

    Just my 2 cents.

Why should it bother you that there are ads in games, as long as you can keep playing? As long as I don't have to stop mid-game and watch ads, I don't care if I am blowing up a Pepsi machine or a Coke machine...

It has ALWAYS been illegal to make a copy of a song on a mix tape for someone (unless they own every song on the mix tape as well) it's just that they never went after people when you were only able to share with a few friends. Now it is a few million friends...

Oh, and don't give out personal info all over the web.

If you follow these rules, you'll mostly be ok. But kudos to anyone who trys to help the uninformed of the world. Surely, there will come a day when the majority are safe users instead of the other way around. This will benefit us all.
