I couldn't have said it better. I used E in 2000 and it was slick. Slick just doesn't cut it anymore. I like Gnome (fought against this for a long time) and still have a box running Slack/FVWM. Linux has come a long way since I started using it in 1996 (programming dot clocks to get my damn fx card to work in X) and the fact that people can argue about all these window managers is great. If you don't believe me try twm, it's horrible (although I used to use it to run quake because it was so tight!!!)
The next big thing for Linux is a distro that doesn't install the entire fucking world (a la suse/redhat/etc...)

Actually it was Arthur Andersen.
I worked there and that was by far the most motivated, intelligent group of people I have ever been around. Imagine taking the best 4-5 students from a school every year and starting a company. Greed is what killed Andersen.
I enjoyed working there, very fun projects (Audit/CRM-Computer Risk Management).
I did however leave and do some over priced consulting for a while...;)
Actually he (Bush) got 51% of the 50% of people elegible to vote so around 25.5% in reality. If that isn't a mandate what is? Lol, I guess it is better than last time getting less votes than your opponent. What drew to opponents (republicans) out to vote was the "We hate faggots" theme. I love the rural boobs in my state. Ignorance rules in the land of Greed, Guns & God.
Actually interest rates are going up steadily and the Fed cannot keep them low for much longer because it is causing the bond market to dry up. There was a recent issue of TBills that went nowhere due to our skyrocketing deficits. As the debt grows and takes a larger percentage of our governments income (Look at the GAO reports (graph) (simulation)) the only way to get outside (foreign) investors to buy our governments bonds is to raise interest rates. The other problem is the devaluation of the dollar which helps the debt to be worth less *real dollars* but negatively affects foreign investment.
If you had cashed out all your stocks in 2001 after the crash (9/11 & Bush Economy combined) and converted your money to English Pounds at a 0% interest rate you would have gained around 25% over 3 years. Beats the hell out of the stock market. The monitary policy of this administration is very poor and is making the prospect of a bright future very unlikely.
What is your point? I am a fan of OS X but when the only difference between a Mac and a PC based on components is the case and the OS I cannot see spending $1000 on a case and BSD. Hell I have a networked printer that works like a fucking champ from my windows and linux boxes (isn't cups in OS X) but try printing from OS X and it just doesn't work. I've got AppleTalk enabled and IP Printing enabled on the print server and unlike most Apple stuff it Just Doesn't Work. I bought an iBook for my wife to use in grad school and here are the problems:
SPSS Grad Pack doesn't run on 10.3 so I had to install 10.2 (yes I understand this isn't apple's fault but SPSS works fine on my PC)
Cannot print to networked my networked printers.
Try explaining to someone you're trying to convert to using a Mac that printing isn't necessary or doing your statistical analysis should take several times longer.
I use mac's exclusively for my tech support at my company because we offer a web based product. Fortunately I don't have printing issues there as well.
My post couldn't be farther from a troll but you seem to have that market cornered.
Apparently you didn't notice the stripped down 1.8GHz single processor system. Since you cannot read here you go:
1.8GHz G5 512K Cache 600MHz Bus (should be 900MHz but it's slowed to degrade performance) 256MB RAM (Wow what is that like $17) Geforce FX 5200 64MB ($51 on NewEgg) 80GB SATA Hard Drive DVD-R (Notice no -RW, +R or +RW) OS X 10.3 & Shiny Case
Like I said I can build a comparable Athlon64 for 1/3 the price. Remember there is no monitor included.
I love apple but 1499 is insane for a single 1.8GHz G5.
I can build a comparable Athlon64 for about $500. I don't care how cool the case is it's too much. Hell for $1499 just buy an iMac instead, at least you get a 17" screen. Stupid overpricing.
My tech support staff all use Macs exclusively (with the exception of one advanced tech support who does Remote Desktop connections to test problems on client computers, and she uses a Mac as her primary computer [Remote Desktop Client for Mac OS X]). Our primary application is web-based and we test our software against mozilla/firefox/safari/IE for functionality. We however only support mozilla/firefox/safari if there are problems on the client side. This isn't a problem and it encourages people to try something more reliable. I am a fan of ActiveX but since it isn't cross platform it's kind of pointless.
I have no idea why any software company would use anything besides the internet for new application development. Maybe really large programs that are processor/IO intensive but for the other 99% web is the way to go. However, development time for web based apps tends to be faster than standard client side applications (executables) but it requires significantly more work on the server side than is ever needed by stand alone apps (redundancy, multi-homed locations (fail-over), not to mention a bunch of other chores).
OS X Software Update is a blessing for a sysadmin too!
As a lazy programmer I find I'm much more productive when I have other people do my work for me. This allows me to get ahead in my projects without the necessary work that would normally be required. I have plenty of time to read slashdot as a result and my productivity hasn't been compromised at all!
You should look into the SMART cars they have in europe. They are this car but have a little more space behind the seats (for storage I guess). They are tiny but parking in europe discourages buying a car. I bet this is why you see $280,000 Ferrari's parked on the street, the parking space is worth more than the car!
Easy by putting your ass in jail in this country. Violating election laws is probably not a good idea. I don't believe this will be allowed by the courts (although I could be wrong).

The authors said when you do a query where your float field is null you dont get the instances of null. They say this is a problem but I say bullshit. It's the fault of whatever allowed null to be the value of that field instead of 0.00 or whatever. The data with null didn't magically appear there.
I agree sql could be better but the more complexity you add the more bullshit code I'll have to figure out what programmers were doing when I'm hired to fix their code. The company I currently work for has stored procedures that are over 4,000,000 lines (total) for report generation. Amazing how difficult it is to debug and work with. Especially since it was done in Transact SQL. I'm probably biased toward PL/SQL because I learned it first but it is so much easier to code in than Transact. (I have about 5-6 years of working in TSQL and about 7-8 in PL/SQL)
True to an extent. However, you need to account for the surplus as well. None of the previous presidents had ever taken office with a surplus after our national debt had grown over 1 trillion dollars. The GDP numbers don't lie (they are adjusted since they are percentages instead of hard numbers). Bush is a fool. Anyone who believes his policies are going to help more than hurt is lying to themselves.
Exactly. Bush is full of shit. I have a degree in Finance and MIS and I'm going for a Masters in Economics. The situation is simple to see for what it is, bad policy regardless of your political beliefs (I'm very liberal).
Normal GDP Tax rate is 20% Normal Spending compared to GDP is 21% (Govt spending)
Bush Spending = 20% (this is good since it is lower than normal) Bush Income (Tax Income) = 16% (this is very depressing and is the reason we have record deficits)
First of these aren't debates. If you've ever seen a debate they can actually ask each other questions. The Woman's League of Voters ran the debates until 1992 I think when they let Perot in the debate which pissed off the two big parties and subsequently they formed their own Non-Partisin (actually it's bipartisan but who keeps up with names that represent reality anyway) Debate Commission. Sad really but until I can vote for a Socialist candidate that has a chance of winning I'm a democrat for life.
Who would have thought in the mid 80's the democrats would steal fiscal responsibility from the republicans. Oh wait they had fucking ridiculous deficits then too.
Sueing has only so much merit when you're dead. Regulation is good, regardless of your childish ideas that *any government oversight is bad*.
Congress can fuck a lot of things up, but voting a majority republican in both house and senate and as the president has shown, 4 years and all they can do is fuck up the economy, start a bullshit war, pass pandering anti-abortion laws (nothing has stuck yet), do nothing to stop an impending terrorist attack on american soil, and fool 45% of the morons in this country into thinking they've done a good job. I guess that is why they never let the president speak, he doesn't know what to say without a teleprompter.

If you actually read the related material you'd see he was appointed to a staff position by Clinton. Bush elevated him to the head position.
