    BTW: This reminds me of the Airplane II movie. William Shatner, doing a parody of himself,

    Soldier: All I've found is that these lights keep blinking back and forth. Aside from that, this thing seems to have no function whatsoever, sir.
    Captain Murdoch (Will Shatner): That's impossible; it must have some sort of function. Why would we pay all that money for a thing with lights that just go back and forth. Keep working on it.

    Later:

    Murdock: Have you figured out what those lights are for?
    Soldier: No, Sir!
    Murdock: Well, Make them go the other way.

    Later he is nearly driven mad by all the blinking and flashing lights:

    There are blinking, beeping, and flashing lights, blinking and beeping and flashing - they're *flashing* and they're *beeping*. I can't stand it anymore! They're *blinking* and *beeping* and *flashing*! Why doesn't somebody pull the plug!

    This is something I am use to on my products, but for another reason - Power Saving! When you are running on solar cells and batteries, every micro-watt counts. The user can disable the leds on all of our IO modules, with one mouse click.

    Actually the outside ring (science 1 & 2) had chairs, that came out of the console. They were used in several episodes. The directors only used them when a shot worked better sitting down. If they are standing up, they "fly" prettier when a weapon hits.

    Like FBI warnings? previews that are hard to skip? Logos that must be viewed? THX animation that hurts the ears?
    They are like movie theaters, sit for 10-15 mins waiting for the main feature, plus be bored by slide commercials!

    If you "place" it into the Public Domain, no one may control it. This means a proprietary program may use it and extended it, and restrict it use like cddb.com !!! See wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain

    * We had to change from domain per plant to one common domain.
    * Passwords have very strict rules. (90 days, complex, 60 days if superuser)
    * Lots of training.
    * Tons more paperwork for accouting.
    * Very strict rules about where you ship for a customer.
    * all the cost is pasted onto the customer.
    * etc., etc., etc.

    No! Just to be clear: I have a matrox PCI graphics card plugged into my dock's PCI slot that runs two monitors!

    On my Dell laptop. The dock has a dual card with two monitors.
    I use one for the program, one for the debugger, and the laptop screen for email.
    I've ONLY had this setup for 4 years!

    Clonning can still happen. It can be done by employees of a cell phone repair service. Many in the USA are "independents" or one/two man shops. They have the equipment, training, and modivation (profit).

    2 - He was in their Parking Lot - most places have a sign "Patron pakring only - all others will be towed"
    3 - "charged with theft of services." - The charges are under review.
    4 - Reporter drove down a street found 5 out of 11 WAP were unsecured.
    5 - Yes, the idot manager used 911.

    No 2 would have been a better charge, However No 3 is "valid", because he was told to stop using it.

    My son, who is a Star Wars Expert Extraordinaire, blames the fall of the Jedi on Yoda. He remade the Jedi in his own image and caused the Jedi to miss the clues to the rise of the Dark Side.

    I sometimes think RMS matches Yoda in thiw way too!

    NTP or acurate time?

    I am sure you can find the answer to acurate time on Google or by reading the book.
    But just to get us started:

      * network file sharing with central backup
      * ditto with CVS type system.
      * network databases.
