I use an DVR-AO3 (actually maybe it is an 04) Anyway, I have it in a external firewire case, and have no problems burning iso's to dvd with cdrecord-dvdhack on Mandrake 8.2 + updates (including some more recent ieee1394 driver builds).

if you you use DivX (mpeg4) like it is supposed to and drop the bit rate down, and incode it for the size of the zaurus's screen you should be able to fit about an hour of video onto a 128mb card.
I keep going back to Mwave. There service is great, never have had issues after 10= different orders, all personal. Bought a new mobo, proc, and ram week and a half ago from them... I always sucker up for the 2day shipping, so the west coast to east coast thing isn't too bad.
I believe if you look back into the history of this, You will find that Dave Bott says he was not asked or pressured by tivo to curb the talking of extraction, It is his board, and he (rightfully so) didn't want to get caught in the middle of a dmca's murky waters.
The deal is they are unofficially supporting both the tivonet and turbonet boards in gen 1 boxes, and including support for various usb-ethernet dongles.
They have actually worked with the developers of both the tivonet and turbonet to include specialized drivers for those devices-- ie jafa, creator of the turbonet as a pretty fine tuned driver for the board, and they are including that driver with 3.0 - unofficially supporting turbonet with no software hacking.
to sum it up get a gen 1 standalone box with 3.0 on it stick a turbonet or tivonet board in there, and it will work, not software tweaking involved (as long as you have a dhcp server there to hand out an ip address)
it's a symlink, guess its for compatiability

saw a presentation on magnetic fluids a few years ago at school... tons of applications because the viscosity can change with the magnetic field applied, so basically lots of active damping. I've seen applications such as bike suspensions to gun recoil to washing machines.
another cool trick is to put the stuff in a suringe that is connected to a second suringe, fluid will move back and forth with the plunger until a magnet is place near by then it gets
if they are set post 9/11/01 or are just set up for you to assume "today" I think it is a good Idea to remove them. It makes the movie more realalistic and up-to date. Vice vera for a movie set in a time between when they were built and 9/11 maybe they should be removed.
The point is the WTC/twin towers are an important piece of history. The symbolized so much before they were destroyed, and they symbolize so much more now that they are gone. I think we should be as reallalistic as possible out of respect for what the towers were/are. Maybe this is more of a long time view, because current logic is affected by the closeness of the event, and the emostional impact it may have.
I just think the movie people should keep things the way they are in real life. which is that before 9/11/01 the towers were there, and after 9/11/01 the towers wheren't.
My tivo taped the hbo first look for shrek the other day, and I was ablt to watch it yesterday. They talked a lot about the look they were aiming for in the movie, which was a fairy tale look. They weren't trying full out to go for the completely real look, so I think what is said in the review about the look and feel is dead on what the creators were looking for. the first look is pretty good, lots of shots of early storyboards and the actors doing their respective voices.
I'm not an programming expert, barely know how, but why wouldn't apple/somebody compile cdrecord on darwin, and then throw together a quick cocca app to control it from the gui. or even just install the gtk libs and compile gcombust or something. To me wouldn't this be a pretty easy/quick fix for the lack of cd burning software in OS X?

As a native Delawarean, I'd like to inform everyone that there are actually more chickens in delaware then people!
Anyway also good to see a former prof, quoted in the Article.. (I'm a VT alum)

Tivo Is also a very open company, they are up front about their data collection, and everyone has the choicd of opting out.
That being said, I think its a great product.

I really liked the fedex ad at the very beginning.. with the high power springs and the last line where the guy says he'll really miss the dog.
