Looking at the trend lines, though, the rate of growth is _2x_ whatever it was prior to the announcement AND profits doubled. That's impressive no matter how you look at it.

"Revenue is growing at twice the rate it was before Chief Executive Dan Price made his announcement this spring, according to a report on Inc.com. Profits have doubled."
From TFA, second paragraph:"Revenue is growing at twice the rate it was before Chief Executive Dan Price made his announcement this spring, according to a report on Inc.com. Profits have doubled."
"Since the lawsuit is trying to force the CEO to buy out his co-founder based on the CEO's prior greed, lowering the short term profitability of the company while boosting his positive PR seems to be a likely motive for the pay hike."
Except that short-term profitability has DOUBLED since wages increases commenced (source). Did his plan then backfire?
I don't comment very often, but I read Slashdot almost daily. Look at my goddamn 6-digit ID — I've been coming here since the beginning. As others have pointed out, the comments ARE Slashdot. I clicked on Beta a few times and every time I had to switch back over to Classic. It's just not as easy to read and follow comments, nor as easy to decide which articles I am interested in reading. Listen to us. Others have given so many reasons why Beta sucks so I won't reiterate, but I had to comment to be counted with the hope that Beta dies.
The king and his men,
Stole the Queen from her bed,
And bound her in her Bones,
The seas be ours,
And by the powers,
Where we will, we'll roam.
Yo Ho, haul together,
Hoist the colours high,
Heave Ho, Theives and Beggars,
Never Shall We Die!
Some men have died,
And some are alive,
And others sail on the sea,
With the keys to the cage...
And the Devil to pay,
We lay to Fiddler's Green!
The Bell has been raised,
From it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,
Pay heed the squall,
And turn your sail toward home!
Yo Ho haul, together,
Hoist the colours high
Heave Ho, Theives and Beggars,
Never Shall We Die!
Wars are inherently against religion. Never read the Bible then (particularly the Old Testament), have you? Or the Quran? It's full of wars and calls to violence in the name of god/allah/jehovah. And genocide. Et al.
Yeah, that took some getting used to reading / hearing when I was in the UK (and now I notice is right away anytime I see it online)... It's a Brit thing; I've noticed it a lot on/. since then. That's one difference between US and UK English that I think the US side is clearly correct on (some others are debatable or just "forks" in the language... like s vs. z or absence of an article for words like hospital or keeping the u in certain words, which is just a hold-over). Company names with a plural verb form are particularly grating.;-)
God damn it, the Boston PD should have known better! Average citizens, maybe not, but It's their fucking job to know this! That was pure hysteria and an embarrassment.
And I say as a libertarian, you need to recognize that the telecom and other industries in the USA are NOT a free-market, and if the gov't is going to give the telecoms exclusive rights (by limiting radio spectrum licensing or granting geographical monopolies), then those companies must open up that infrastructure to others for there to be competition. I realize that, economically, some things make sense for such monopolies to reduce having to unnecessary redundancy of infrastructure, but if those same companies are then able to sell services on those lines, then there's a huge problem. And that's exactly what we have now. Let's make infrastructure companies prohibited from offering services (they can only resell to other companies offering the end-services); then we can have true competition, much closer to a free-market.
Fair enough question. I would say guns aren't going to "win the war", so to speak, but an armed populace definitely 1) keeps the government in check to hopefully prevent things from getting that bad (n the interim allowing the use of other means to change the system and root out corruption, like voting) and 2) give the people an edge they otherwise would not have against the government. My main argument though is that guns should not be illegal, certainly not in so-called free societies. Criminals will get them if they want them, legal or not, in any country that is remotely open. (Probably ain't happening in North Korea, for example, when the "cure", ie "no guns = no/less 'crime'", is worse than the disease.)
Yeah, I really admire Tank Man as well; it's a very powerful image (one the PRC showed as "valiant restraint" btw on the media, nevermind that the army blew away hordes of distressed family members wanting to find their lost relatives the next day), but what if all of those people did have access to guns; would they have been able to overthrow the government? Maybe so... Without guns, however, they ultimately failed to do so, so though Tank Man may or may not have survived, many people died or are still rotting in a Chinese prison today. I don't think that guns are a "silver bullet" (ha-ha), as you still need enough people willing to fight to oust the corrupt government -- absolutely, and it never hurts to have some military units on your side, too.
I agree with you on universal health care and education, but guns? Guns are an important part of maintaining a balance of power between the government and the people in a free society. Stop treating gun-owning rights as if it were incompatible with a free society. It is not. Governments get corrupt and have to be overthrown. "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." But sadly, this is not how it is in most of the world. So I ask you, "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?" -Patrick Henry. For many, it apparently is (see North Korea for a prime example of the world powers maintaining the status quo to avoid war; sometimes war is necessary and just. We have the power to stop this regime, but refuse. Which is the greater "evil" occurring here?). If you make guns illegal, only criminals will have guns! Just like drugs, et cetera... People should be held accountable only for their actions, but merely owning a gun (and using it in defense or sport or overthrowing corrupt governments) or taking drugs should not be a crime and is not immoral.
Don't forget Office Space! The OS goes from a Mac OS 9ish UI (sans Apple menu with a Windows hour-glass cursor) to a DOS prompt on old Apple hardware (never possible, even on a LC 630. Still one of the best movies ever, though.
I've been quite happy with the Kensington bag [kensington.com] I bought at Circuit City. It has gel and lumbar support and plenty of room to store everything I need when I go mobile. Very durable, too. Cost is $70, but well worth it.
Serverplex.com has some very competitive plans. Reseller plans start at $15/mo for 500MB/10GB with unlimited email/domains/etc., ssh, ftp, mysql, php, the works. They have good customer service, decent server specs, etc. The control panels they use are WHM/cPanel(.net), which give you (and your clients) access to just about anything you'd need short of root access. I'm quite satisfied with them... Worth at least checking out.
Apple owed Claris, which was renamed "FileMaker" after Jobs brought most of the Claris apps back under Apple. Just look at the copyright notice on every FileMaker page.

The article clearly states in second paragraph:
"Revenue is growing at twice the rate it was before Chief Executive Dan Price made his announcement this spring, according to a report on Inc.com. Profits have doubled."

I can't help but think of this Seinfeld clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Maybe someone tried this exploit: 'At Klaus's suggestion, (Hailey) kills Steve's amazing character by saying his name, Agathor, backwards.'
Just want to point out the 'airplane recycled-air' claim is a myth. Check this out.

Probably not enough to supply present demand, but Hawaii (USA) does produce coffee.
Reminds me of this link from 2003 (no pics on the archive though :-( ).

Further, the admin can disable user access to this and other preferences, so it can be disabled in software.
