I have had the cable drop off dozens of times though as have most people I know. I'd rely on Verizon for VOIP in a second but I would trust Cablevision to deliver my email. If what they are saying is actually true on a national scale then I'm shocked.

Beyond Google's horrific privacy policies the one thing that gives me pause is its web based nature. Many individuals get by perfectly well with web only email but businesses especially very much want to have a local copy of their email and calendar available at all times. Imagine running your appointments off of google calendar and then you can't get them? What do you do when you need to print out an email from a year ago and your connection is down etc? The same goes for any online ASP but at least with some of them they have offline syncing available as part of the service. Without that I could never recommend the service to a business.

PVR's from cable/sat companies are the current and future for both recording and purchasing content. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Either do it all-in-one like Apple or stay out of it and let the market decide which of your partners to go with. I'd be pissed if I was a MS partner right now. Then again based on MS's past history why did they expect anything different.

Overall I think this is the browser that MS should have released 3-4 years ago. It is better than IE 6 in pretty much every way but I don't see Opera or Firefox users coming back anytime soon. I know that MS sees these changes as a big deal but I honestly expected more from a company that spends $1 Billion+ on R&D per year. With all of that money and talent the best they could do is copy features that other browsers have had for years and years? Talk about a total lack of innovation.

If you only want to do work that has immediate compensation stick to a regular job with a salary. If you can find an OSS job where the person who benefits from your code happens to want to kick back to you then fine, but don't go trying to turn one of the greatest things going into a quid pro quo situation.
