I'm hearing impaired, and I have a sign language interpreter. She basically translates from English into American Sign Language close to real time. However, there is a lag--5 words or so. She said that she needs to hear a part of a sentence to understand the concept and then pick the correct signs. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to translators for verbal langiages. I just have a hard time with the idea that a real time universl translator would be very accurate.
I've used Plan9 in the past, and while the new version does look good, frankly I find the GUI quite cheesy. It's just my opinion, but I wouldn't want a pastel-colored theme as my desktop. Also, with my experience with this alternative OS, it's difficult to work with. Maybe version 4 will be better... Who knows?

Please... Don't try to rationalize time paradoxes like this... It hurts my head. Oww...
As far as I know, it's possible to go FORWARD in time, since the faster you are to the speed of light, the slower the time around you. I once read that they took an atomic clock on one of the Concorde supersonic planes, and another one on the ground, and there was a time dilation of 0.0003 (or something like that) nanoseconds. If you could find a way to go even 99.999% the speed of light, you'd age only a few days while the sun's entering it's Red Giant phase. Or something like that.
Hah, I organized an anime marathon at my house as well. Just some of us from the Florida Tech Anime Club, I'm not sure what we're gonna watch, but whatever it is, it's gonna be fun.
Blud, I didn't know you visited Slashdot:P Do you know if StCreator is going to your marathon?
I've cracked the algorithm and gotten the first 2 passwords, unfortunately the 2 pages were taken down. The passwords work because it cleared the authentication instead of saying "Invalid Password".

I know, I know... I'm breaking the DMCA. But who the hell cares?
I figure it's about a year away from being good, 2 from being available over cable, and 3 from being almost mainstream.
The Time Warner Communications service here in Brevard County, Florida offers three types of cable: Normal, Digital, and High Definition. They require separate receivers. Over here, channels 1000+ are HDTV only, and so far we have 15 HDTV channels. We don't have the High Definition service, nor a HDTV for that matter. I'd say that HDTV over cable is already here. However, I concur with your prediction about HDTV being mainstream in 3 years.
Time Warner Communications is preparing to roll out their VOD service pretty soon here in Brevard County, Florida. Average price is $3.99 a video, and will be available for multiple viewing for a single customer within 48 hours of purchasing the movie. The digital cable remote controller already has VOD featurs, such as a switch that allows us to control the VCR or VOD. There are buttons like those you'd expect in a VCR, such as Rewind, FF, Pause, etc. Yes, you can pause a VOD!
Usually when we refer to east and west, imagine the world being cut vertically at the international date line (Between Hawaii and Japan, dead center in the pacific ocean, where if the date in California is a Friday, west of the date line would be Saturday) and folded out. You will see the Americas at the left, and Europe in the middle, with the Orient at the right. That, my friends, is where "east and west" comes from.
[08:06p] <Gangis> GeForce 4?!?! Pleeeeeease, be original for once
[08:09p] <[stig]> they need to call it an AK47 or something
[08:09p] >[stig]> just so i say to my friends in school "Yeah so I picked up an AK47 the other day, its really powerful!"
[08:09p] <[stig]> in front of teachers of course
While the specs look really excellent (Sorry, no ray-tracing accelleration;), I must ask you one simple question...
Don't you think it's time they adopted a new family name for their newer cards? GeForce is kind of old-sounding now. I think it could use a new name, what do you think? Reply to this post with suggestions, please!:)
I actually persuaded the professor at Florida Tech to adopt JCreator as their primary IDE for the CSE-1001 class. I love it!
JCreator is easy and flexible, and makes it easy to organize your projects. It also allows you to split up a single file with several modules into several files with one module each. Best of all, it's free! You can buy a Pro version for $30 or so, I think, but the LE version is good enough for me.
My brother and I are longtime fans of Zelda. One thing we liked about Zelda was that it was targeted at a wide range of people. That continued to this day, but now, I think Zelda for Gamecube is targeted at a smaller age group, the young players. I, personally, think it is a bad move. I'm 18, and my brother's 23. We both know so many people our age that still plays Zelda games. A lot of people our age, including us, are pretty upset about it.

Which OS did they use? Microsoft DNA?
*rimshot*
May you have as many children as you get hits per day on Slashdot!
(Gonna be a big family...)
Hah, I wouldn't be surprised if the US did the same thing. The US is full of crooked and corrupt politicans.
:P
Huh... someone's knocking at the door...
What the hell?! There's a whole fleet of NSA agents on my front lawn!
Oh shit...

Mmm... LotR in DVD-quality through VOD...

Yeah, it's a good read. I think anyone who develops using GNU/Hurd should read it. It provides an insight into what he does.
A companion for a companion for the PC! Just what the world needs!

Frontpage 97 had that feature. I remember it all too well! ^_^
I have mixed feelings about this... It could be good in catching terrorists, but privacy avodocates will have a field day. What do you think?
Heh, this is offtopic, but Windows XP is hella stable! ^_^
Anyways, from what I've observed in the video, Shigeru Miyamoto had this "What have I done?" smile and you could hear only 5 people applauding.
I remember there was a version of Zelda on CD-i called The Wand of Gamelon. I think it was written by Phillips-Magnavox, not Nintendo.
