    My HSF (which came standard with the AMD 64 processor) actually had a layer of grease on it. Not a pad, actual thermal grease. Seemed kind of thick, too.

    Actually, I sometimes visit the webpages advertised in spam.

    I do it to scour the site for email addresses to which I can blast my complaint -- CCed, of course, to the ISP hosting the spammer, and repeat followups follow weekly as long as the page stays up and running (which means that I go back to see that it's still up)

    Moreover, natural selection is simply the process of life forms being less able to survive to reproduce in a given environment. You're not even stopping natural selection, you're just changing the environmental pressures and thus changing the probabilities that certain individuals will be selected out of it. Natural selection still happens, and it's no better or worse for it.

    Such lack of understanding of what natural selection is leads creationist morons to think that evolution theory is "directly responsible" for reprehensible eugenics programs, as the eugensists were just "trying to help evolution along".

    Um, I got the impression that his account had been compromised. Ebay reported that the "buyer's" account had been compromised when they finally came up with an intelligent response beyond "Escrow 101", and I assumed that it was the professor's.

    No delay with my WinTV card, with motv, though it ends up looking like crap (used to play Nintendo 64 games that way).

    Are there any Linux apps like dscaler? Also, does dscaler have any lag between the input stream and the display output?

    Apparently codepunk (aka dumbass) hasn't read the section of the CAN-SPAM act that allows ISPs to use any guidelines that they chose when it comes to filtering mail.

    In other words, as per CAN-SPAM, mail filtering is perfectly legal. The only people who claim that mail filters might violate CAN-SPAM are utter morons or criminal lying spammers who deserve to be shot.

    The problem is that OIRB is in fact junk mail; basically it's an association of a lot of different mass email marketers, and when you opt in for one, the fine print is that you opt in for all of them.

    Actually, you don't even need to opt in for one. They'll start sending you crap even if you don't ask for it.

    Show me an ad that says, "Hey this works okay most of the time," or "this router can detect and contain unusual network activity, so viri spread slower" and that's a product that I can trust. Promising pie in the sky only works for idiots.

    It's been my experience that the idiots are the ones making the purchasing decisions, hence the nature of the advertising.

    Apparently you don't remember the 1.666 patch for the first Doom, which was given a release date of "two weeks". For several months.

    It was released in the US, on the PS2, and its initial retail price was more than I paid to have the European Dreamcast version imported (note: Dreamcast games don't have PAL/NTSC distinctions, the video output is dependent on the console used).

    Your riddle was originally intended as a question of barbers, one with terrible hair and one with well-styled hair. It does not translate as well to dentistry, as dental hygene requires personal effort in addition to regular dentist visits. True, hairstyles also require some personal effort, but at least most people don't cut their own hair, so a barber with badly shorn hair would indicate that his barber is a lousy cut.
