So you can give me shit loads of bandwidth enough for say, 150 simultanous voice connections for $45/month., yet 150 landline customers get the telco, $4500. The telcos are making a lot of money, the only reason profits are down, is that they are covering up losses in stupid projects, or the 50000 managers they hire, or crappy billion $ investments in content companies.
The true cost in phone lines (bandwidth wise) is at most 0.05cents / minute.
If their costs are highers, its because of old techology hanging around that couldbe replaced by fibre.
The reason the govts wont step it, is because they are raking in millions in corporate taxes from the telcos, if telcos were 10x cheaper, their costs the taxes they get from em. This is where the govt is wrong, and should take the bullet, at least people will have more money to spend localy or the real economy and not give 10% of the spending potential of a country to a telco.
USA Govt isnt entirely innocent, but at the end of the day, id rather have usa take over earth than some North Korean dictator.
