    I run XP on an old abit MB from 98 with a 600mhz celeron and 400meg or so ram, with a scsi card for cdr and tnt2 card from 99.

    Works well/sweet. Now whats wrong with apple?

    as bad as it is, yes i hate it, its still better than SOlaris which is a shocking piece of shit.

    So whats the solution? DUdes/programmers, just copy windows/osx, and add new bits in logical areas.

    why cant they design one GOOD multipurpose probe, with all the goodies/cameras/scanners/optics/ION engine, VOyager3 or something....

    Make 100 of the puppies, then launch them all with in 2 years, and send em on their way .... 3 per planet, and 1 each to a dozen moons, and place 2 in perm orbit around our moon.

    Yes, but you can do this passively and over time, ie shit loads of SOlar cells, and retrofitting Dams to use excess power to store it.

    H2 is basicly a great battery.

    MAcs with 2 monitors SUCK, the menus are ALWAYS on the PRIMARY monitor and that just plain is totaly crap.

    Its the fault of C++, a lot of C++ coders dont know how to use STL well and code using slow maps or bad loops etc...

    Its amazing that a lot of code can run 5 to 10x faster if written well...

    The amiga ran fast on 7mhz.

    Problem is there is too much code/libraries that are TOOO object orientated which is fine on 500ghz cpus, but not today.

    Man intel either wants to push those P4 out the door fast!!! or they want those P3s to die faster.

    Why do they bother with 1.9ghz and 1.8ghz, thats like selling a 300mhz vs a 315mhz cpu in 1997

    What a joke intel, you guys a overun buy marketing no hoppers. I expect a min of 25% diff in each model, not 5% shit.

    Why not just sell ONE CPU that can work up to 2.2ghz but boots up at 500mhz for FREE, and makeit register online and you can pay per mhz (25cents/mhz), then when you hit submit, your CPU springs up to the mhz value.

    Remember, marketing requires less brains and less months study, compared to engineering requiring 100x more brains and 10 more years learning.

    I dont care what they will sell in Q2/2002, I care what they can make today for $120, if they can make a 1.5ghz P3, then DO IT. Its good enough for 95% of all applications/users... only encoding mpeg2s/dvds/DV will matter, and then by only minutes not hours.

    If intel wants more cpu sales at 2ghz+, they NEED to make FIREWIRE available TO ALL motherboards in intel chipsets... even if it competes with their shit USB2 which no camera has.

    TV stations in 1990 had the ability to PAUSE LIVE sports play in telecasts, and recontinue later...

    All this shit was done in HIGH END expensive gear for tv stations.
