  1. no, its not on Trek Prop Collecting · · Score: 0

no, star trek isn't geeky anymore. Words in the theme song, sarcastic vulcans and crappy story lines. There will never be another ST:TNG and we're all worse off for it. Voyager sucked, DS9 wasn't NEthing but a Baylon Five based in the Star Trek universe and Enterprise isn't NE better. It's time for a new show in a new world with new characters and story lines.

  2. security? on Trouble Ahead for Java · · Score: 0

    Web Techniques (now New Architect)
has got an interesting article on a similar topic.
the question is, will people be willing to substitute ease of use and standerdization for security. considering how C# IS part of the visualstudio.net package and we can expect to see C# play a critical role in M$ internet take over scheme, i would rather stick with older technology that works than newer tech thats easier.

  3. godzilla, gaming, anime on Blade Director to Adapt 'Akira' For Western Audiences · · Score: 0

y is it that everytime anything good from japan makes it ove here we have to "westernize" it? Like everybody said, Akira is good as it is. but that's not the only thing we've melted down to make affable to american audiences. Godzilla, Micrsofts forray into the gaming market and the massacering of anime to fit American television standards r all good examples of wut the money gluttons can do to a fine peice of work if they're allowed to get their grubby hands on it!

  4. original on From Midway to Xbox, The story of Seamus Blackley · · Score: 0

i miss the good old days of gaming. back when only gamers and REAL programers made the games
now there are code grinders out there working for companies like M$ that couldn't give a rat turd less about inovating or trying new things. All they see the market as, is another place to make money. Sega and Nintendo were the last of the REAL gaming cmpanies after SNK, Atari, and 3DO dropped out of the console market. nintendo and Sega have got my money. I'll NEVER give my money to the profiteering M$ or sony. They couldn't care less about gamers. all they care about is money.
    LONG LIVE INOVATION!!!

  5. TNG on Wil Wheaton to get new role on 'Enterprise' · · Score: 0

The next generation was the best ever. The original was good and i obviously can't bad talk it because of the fact that it fathered the rest. Deep Space Nine was more of a space opera, Voyager was good until they guest starred the rock and then it was over. Enterprise is just horrible. No Star Trek theme song should ever have words and the Vulcan's sarcasm is so blatantly obvious. I mean, even Spock, who was only half vulcan didn't throw in any one liners or stupid remarks.
Star trek left its roots and has now turned commercial. There are no more interesting plot lines or stories. I hope there will eventually be another Star Trek good enough to rival TNG because Enterprise has completely and utterly failed

y is it that all of the adults on Slashdot have to make fun of teenagers. Once again I'm
stuck reading another stereotypical article trash talking teenagers (the whole 13 yr. old
boy thing). It's not like we're all a bunch of script kiddies out to hack your stuff. And
even if we are, you guys, being the adults and commercial software makers and vendors,
should learn to make your XXXX more secure. everytime I read something that has a bad review or is talking about hacking, all I get is 16 yr. old this and 15 yr. old that. you were once there to and many of yesterdays hackers and crackers are todays technology leaders

  7. Gaming on HTTP's Days Numbered · · Score: 0

I remember back when we tried using p2p in the ealry days. Not everything is suitable for P2P
Especially not gaming. doom without a centraized server is not a good thing (2 people geting the same item at the same time, etc...)
anyways, server based sites are MUCH better. Crackers would have a field day with small peices of data that could be manipulated each time it was sent to another comp.
maybe i just have the concept wrong but i think it holds alot of security risks
