    There really isn't a lot of damage that someone could do with my online banking account.

    I can't transfer funds to an account that is not mine.

    The information that is available online about me and my account is less than what is available on a check. I guess I should be more concerned about that, but I have no control of my checks once I have used them to pay for something.

    My Debit card information is not available online.

    About the best someone can do with my account is see my balance.

    Not exactly true.

    Fans are not the only technology that can assist in circulating air. A chimney could be integrated into a case design that would provide decent air circulation.

    Heck, on a hot summer's day they used to cool the Parliment building with a fire to draw air through the building and up a chimney.

    Yes.

    I am not a big fan of Microsoft, but they acted in their best interest. I have worked inside of several of the largest computer / technology companies, and there has never been a question about the no-camera policy. Every NDA I signed has specified that I can't bring a camera on campus without permission. (This has caused some problems for the folks with cameras imbedded in their mobile phones.)

    If RedHat isn't going to distribute their wares through a retail channel, then someone else will. It may not be from Red Hat, but anyone can distribute a copy of Red Hat Linux.

    5 - 7 year olds really didn't use BASIC either.

    The math and logic behind programming in BASIC, C, Perl, shell script, etc., is beyond the comprehension most kindergarten to first grade children.

    You are right, scripting does not "get it" for these kids, but what does? Does something even need to? Use the computer for some "Reader Rabbit", then go outside and play. Leave the coding to the older kids.

    Yes, MS is devoid of programming, but Open Source solutions, such as Linux and BSD, have solutions right out of the box. True, gcc is there, but the place where the kiddies can start is simple shell scripting. Perl and Python can be used later.

    I don't think that the real problem is with the lack of tools, but with a lack of motivation. When I had my VIC-20 in 1981, I had to write BASIC programs because there was little else to do with it.

    Major league hardware like a quad Xeon IBM x360 is a significant investment (the last one I bought was about $60,000), and a big enterprise (there's that word again) switch can be almost as much. Large scale, mission critial services cost money. Red Hat's Enterprise AS is just a small portion of TCO.

    Red Hat provides software, and the service behind it at many levels. They are just scaling up to a specific demand.
