The fact that people saw the original trilogy when they were young does not mean that they can't judge them somewhat objectively. They are simply better films than the prequels.
And yes, the prequels are garbage. Over-complicating the plot for no reason is idiotic. If the movie is intended for kids then its even more stupid. How are children going to follow political mechanations that adults can barely keep up with?
Look at the Beatles now, while they should be reconized for what they did, most of the music itself hasn't aged well and the few gems that are there don't sparkle any more than current music.
I agree. What is the point of not owning a TV? If people are so afraid of advertising, they'll have to have their eyes and ears sewn shut; its everywhere. Will TV rot your brain? Probably if you watch it 24/7, but who does that? Why can't people just watch only the shows that they like and then turn it off to pursue their "social" activities?
A while ago I realized that I was watching a lot of TV and wanted to watch less. So I did. I didn't throw out my TV or drop my cable provider, I just figured out the few shows that I really like and only watch those (about 5). Sure occasionaly I watch documentaries, and other special events, but I use this little thing called willpower to determine when and what programming I subject myself to.
What about the boulder that you are under?
Try Greencine. They actualy do have "lots of hard to find movies" (unlike Netflix). They also have a user forum and far more personalized service. Pricing is about the same. Oh yeah, and they already have a small amount of VOD movies.
I use winamp 5 for all audio and video on my computer. With the proper codecs installed it plays everything pretty much flawlessley for me. I also use it with the Litestep shell which it integrates with quite nicely. I'm running XP Home with 512RAM, P4-2.7Ghz.
Why? That show jumped the shark after the first season. I remember reading something once about how they purposefully dumbed it down and basicaly made it into a typical action crapfest. First season was great, then it was all down hill from there. I like almost every other show you mentioned though.
...we've got Alex Proyas as the director, who did both Dark City and The Crow. Both were very good films I don't agree with the "very good" part. Both were mediocre. Not terrible mind you, but nothing stellar either.
I agree with your points about it being to cartoony. UT04 is fun for a little while but its so damn flashy its annoying. I mean chaos can be fun but most of the time I'd like to know if I actualy hit what I was aiming for. Since nearly every weapon is some sort of laser gun variation there's a constant stream of neon lights whizzing by which just looks like a mess (and no its not my video card). The vehicles are great though, I'll give it that.
I want to compliment you on a fine explanation of "real-time". A lot of words and phrases like this start to be used incorrectly, especialy when they become buzzwords. Its always nice to see the record set straight.
Test drive a Stryker in the Battlefield 1942 Mod "Desert Combat". The latest version includes a Stryker as one of the coalition forces' armored vehicles.
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Netflix or Greencine. These are examples of a business model (video rentals) adapted to suit the technology (internet). I dont know what their earnings are but I thought it was a cool idea when I heard of it, and I like it even more since I've been using it.
Its not that its the "in" thing. Theres quality there for the most part. A lot of manga is actualy good! Its been steadily rising in popularity for a while now, and not just among youngsters.
Don't worry, the live action "Jetsons" movie is still a go! I'm sure it will be terrific!

Are you deaf?

Greencine == Better than Netflix

Two words: Office Space
Your description of script kiddies sounds a lot like antisocial personality disorder
every episode of Sliders

Hendrix used his thumb on the low E string a lot too.
Any PC game will work even without voice support. Just get Teamspeak and start a server for just you and her.

Well theres a lot of good music out there, the problem is finding out about it. Radio and Mtv are no help there.
Yes Blind Guardian is cool. See if you can find some tunes by The Mooks.

I can't believe they didn't use the obviously superior title: WEBCURITY!
The robo-suit Sigourney Weaver uses in Aliens looks like it could be the future of this technology.
There was an article on /. last week I think about a prototype split(in 2 pieces) keyboard with mouse attached. It looks pretty cool.
