this is exactly what patents are supposed to do. It does not matter if someone else builds a better version, the person who developed the original idea has some protection, to think otherswise is the domain of big business. In the good old days the second company would negotiate a license or some other arrangement.
at no time has it been said that the GM of MACOSX on Intel will run on standard WinTel hardware!!! IMHO Apple will have a method that stops MACOSX running on joe-bloggs brand PC. Bah! there will be NO free lunch!
On the original Newton PDA, all info was tagged and thrown into a 'soup' so when you wanted anything it was retrieved by a search. It completely removed the concept of folders and directories. But people like folders and so psuedo folders appeared, which were simply the results of searches. Apple also pushed the concept of a 'folder' icon opening a window and actually showing search results in the pre-Copland (spelling?) OS8 days. I don't think that CP/M had folders or directories?

I am reasonable, I just think that it is a laugh that people post spelling corrections in a global forum, on the internet. I don't correct merkins for mis-spelling 'colour' and I try to avoid grammar correcting. The issue is Big US companies, who are currently hoarding patents, being unhappy that they have to pay for a key piece of technology. IIRC Apple was wanting 50c per firewire port.:)
As an Aussie Taxpayer I am only too happy to see US companies having to fight for technology. CSIRO will loose in the end, but it is so nice to see a fight. Stick your FTA up your FBA
they sue people who host/distribute files so if anything, X uploads times $5/month. So share files with 10 people for a year and the damage is 10 x 12 x $5 = $600, and as many people are being leached by others for many gigs of mp3 per month, you could say that the usual $3000 damages claim may be a cheap way out.
sorry, I don't have any sympathy for thieves or idiots.
IIRC Oz has laws that prevent people for changing data on your PC without concent, like changing the default homepage on your browser, this moves to stop non-intrusive virii, which is really what spyware is. It is a start and better than nothing, now if they could stop spam from Goverment bodies and political orgs!!
the OS is called, MacOSX 10.4, not tiger. Tiger is the code name for the product and Apple can stop using it whenever they want, without harm to the product. IIRC they stop using the name after it's release anyway. I don't believe that they sell it as MacOSX Tiger, so the suit will only stop, what? references to an internal code name for a product, that has been used for a couple of years, big deal.
the problem is not choice, it is the lag time, many years, between using software in schools and the evential use of software in the workplace. Complete generations of software come and go in the time that a student moves through the education system.
you take something and make a copy and put it in a place where you know that other people will take a copy, it's theft. Sorry but the penalty is not that different to what would be handed out to an art thief or con man.

No, CherryOS claims to be a G4 PPC emulator, not an OSX emulator.

Why is this under a an APPLE heading? It's Window/Linux/Know your rights/GPL.
The issue in NOT with the emulation of a PPC systems that can run LINUX too, it is an issue about theft!
Apple is the brand of machine produced by M$ to test out new ideas and OS features before they are used in the next major Windows release.
it has always been this way. A reason to buy a PC or PC emulator and claim the cost on your tax.
It will repace ISDN based telephony in businesses long before it 'kill' trad telephony. Isn't VOIP a form of telephony anyway?

if these had been DELL computers, would it have got DELL in the title? No! what has the brand got to do with it??

The same technology is set to be available as a display from Philips electronics
IIRC Claris/Apple bought Wingz Spreadsheet, many years age.
Apple has often put an expiry date into their software so it may only be good for a short period of time? enjoy

if the best comment you can offer is about my spelling, I suggest that you find another life, your current one is being wasted.

most/all of these 'problems' are in non-apple items, so it's apples fault for not using proprietary software, like MS.

I thought that 64bit meant a potential DATA bus was 64bits wide, but I am obviously wrong....
