A bit too little, a bit too late for Intel.

For much much cheaper, you could get an AMD motherbaord that supports Cool 'n Quiet: the CPU is underclocked to 800Mhz for things like web surfing and watching DVD's. There's also an option to have all the fan stop if the case is cool enough.

For a list of supported motherbaords clickhere

For the price of the Pentium M CPU alone, you could get a faster motherboard, a mid range AMD 64 bit COU and maybe some ram.

It's been said before on the LKML that Linus will not help out the compaines who are interested in providing only closed source drivers, 'cause they don't help him out, and ther rest of the gang, with specs. Sounds more like a one way street is you ask me. Compaines bemoaning the lack of cooperation from Linus while clinging to their NDA's and "third party trade secret" arguments.

I'll stick with Intel and VIA for now, thank you very much.

If you want to experience some amazing sound without the inconvenience of paying $100 for rare vinyl and only being able to play it a handful of times before it starts to wear down, there are some pretty simple things you can do. You also don't need to spend thousands of dollars on hardware to get something far better than you likely have at the moment.

    fud

You can get vinyl at equal cost, if not cheaper than most CDs anyday. Play a handful of times? Again FUD. A vinyl disc played
on a properly setup turntable will give you more plays than any current spec'd CD. Vinyl is also more stable than polycarbonate. Ever hear of CD rot? As Bob Irwin (of Sundazed Records) said "In a hundred thoudand years they'll find a CD and probably won't know what to do with it. If they find a vinyl record, they'll be able to play it with a pine needle.

Get a pair of good headphones. Headphones have much better bang-for-the-buck than speakers

FUD. Headphones don't give you a realistic 3D soundstage like a properly set-up pair of speakers will. When one wears headphones, the soudstage is split into 3 distinct areas: Left Ear, Right Ear, and right in the middle of your head. That's hardly natural UNLESS you listen to Binaural recorded media.

Properly postioned speakers in a decent sized room give you a Stereo image (from the greek word meaning solid/rigid).

The sounstage on my B&w speakers wraps around the speakers in a very convinicing re-creation of the original evennt. I cab close my eyes and point to different intruments as they are playing. My speakers are setup as follows: Audio Physic On properly recorded material I can't hear sound coming from the speakers at all. The soudstage is just behind them and wraps around them and a few feet beyond.

NO pair of headphones comes even close in this respect. Bang-for-the buck I think not.

  15. Re:Not true, just setting a value on good shifts on Would You Bid for a Job? · · Score: 1

Wrong. Even an R.N. with an associates degree gets paid very well, and the career possibilities are many. You get paid more for every specialty certification you obtain (peds intensive care, newbow intensic care, etc.).

You could also get your masters in nursing and open up your own prcatice (only a case review with a affiliated MD for new pateints is required in most states)as an NP (nurse practitioner) which is on par as being an MD (but anybody who has ever been taken care by an NP will tell you the care can be superior to that of an MD).

Here in New Yokr City, R.N.s make buku bucks and work 3 days a week. You could pick up as much OT as you like, there's plenty of it. Did you know that some visiting nurses can make 65 dollars an hour, which is on par with what some ER docs make?

The downside? Being an R.N. in a metropolitan hospital is, in my view, one of the most stressfull professions one can undertake. And I say this a Paramedic in NYC with 10 years experience.

BTW, the hospital that I work at is always short ER nurses.
