    is sitting in the corner, dead for no reason

    linksys cable router
    linksys 10/100 hub
    are the first two that come to mind, there could be others...

    plug them in and no power, they just turned off one day and didn't turn back on, and to top that off when the cable router was working it blocked many Well Known Ports and when linksys support was repeatedly contacted asking for a reason or a firmware update I was ignored every time...

    maybe they've improved in the last year or so since i bought any of their shit but i doubt it... what good is linux on a doorstop

    i know what you mean about the internet radio stations

    i listen regularly to a program you have have heard of called Coast to Coast am (http://www.coasttocoastam.com) that has 10 million or so listeners and is the #1 rated talk show; anyway you used to be able to listen to various radio station's online that carried the show until they decided they want to create their own show archive and charge for access at which point clear channel went around and threatened to sue every radio station on the affiliate list (if you look you will see quite a few) and virtually all of them pulled their radio streams, the ones that didn't pull their streams played something different during the show.

    now the only place i can listen to the show (as the only local affiliate here in indianapolis dropped it) is from a canadian internet radio stream and it is probably a matter of time bfeore that one is shut down (like the did the one in virgin islands i was listening to before that)

    anyway i thought you might be interested to know that heavy handed tactics aren't hte exclusive domain of RIAA/MPAA and their puppet senators

    do you really want to know? it's one line in /etc/nat.conf yea it took me like 5 minues to look up the syntax and get it working right .. and as for linksys, i have a dead "cable router" sitting in the corner and a dead 10/100 hub both linksys.. so they're not worth a shit

    the box is an old p2 400 gateway, cost? 0 made from spare parts (and was part of a trade with a friend).. time to build ? i added 2 nics to it like.. 3 years ago .. 10 minutes tops ..

    bonus? while your linksys is getting packeted by l33t k1dd13z i have changed the line in /etc/nat.conf from ne3 to ne5 and have a new ip in seconds and am back up and running. but maybe you don't have that problem, if what you ahve works well enough it works, there is no need to talk shit about openbsd...

    yea i know, that was part of my joke, but some people don't get my humor either

    and it doesn't stop the crux from being true

    sure disklabel sucks and some people are afraid of hte cli, hell i don't evne like tcsh and make sure bash and pico are hte first two things in .. and openbsd runs window managers fine.. as for having no ethernet ports as it says in the grandparent.. i guess that makes my ps/2 the most secure platform on earth (except when it's being rigged to guide scuds ala saddam heh)

    i didn't see or hear anything about the blaster worm for several days or anything unless until the trickle down hit people i knew and then i had to find out how to fix it, why? cause i'm a cave dweller but not my machines as they were sitting behind my OpenBSD firewall were totally unaffected so troll all day about obsd but the fact is it beats the fuck out of wintendos for security any day, that's what you get with regular code audits instead of adding extra witty clippy sayings...

    but my guess is with a troll based around no windowing system you're an apple fanboi

  16. I found a much easier way to avoid RIAA files on RIAA Tracking Songs by MD5 Hashes · · Score: 1

    it's really very simple, you search for your songs, and look for the ones that come up with 300+ people and have their "bandwidth" set at 1566

    then you sort the list by bandwidth so that all the 1566's are at the top and avoid them

    they are easy to spot because if you start to download the song and actually listen to it (and I can give a specific example, try 50 Cent's "Backdown" .. not usually my style of music but my brother has the cd and I liked the song while listening to it in his car) and a few seconds in you will hear it fuck up and yet 300 people still have that copy and all have stupid usernamers as well.. also you will notice that the speed on these mp3's is extremely high (in the 200 Kb/s range)

    you know i was giong to post a wtf are you thinking it's teh MPAA post but after doing 20 minutes of research I can't find new line cinema being affiliated with them in any way other than getting their films rated and getting threatend for using "goldmember" in austin powers outside the wishes of 2 james bond copyright holdrse on the mpaa.. maybe i'm wrong but i dont' think they're a part of the group..

    you know the RIAA pulls all their loss figures from what you *WOULD* have paid for the entire album if all you got was one song... Artists have long made their money from touring on concert and product endorsement and other venues outside of selling their music (and last time I checked no one on MTV Cribs was living in the gutter, unlike many of the people they claim empathy with/for) so I say: Fuck 'Em; Fuck 'Em Long and Hard with properly heated, wrought iron, not a single smoooth surface rods and watch them writhe around in agony slowly dying, fuck the RIAA, fuck the MPAA and fuck their puppet Senators (I'm looking at you Fritz)

    i think it's pretty obvious what the real problem is .. you're talking about executives who have localized power monpolies, and as they have no comptetion they have no incentives to give af uck outside of whatever the law absolutely mandates them to do.. this is the same reason why many areas still do not have cable modem access.. and heave to deal with absolutely retard phone companies

    monopolies destroy competition in the market and when that happens a market economy fails to be the most efficient which invariably leads to problems
