Sort of the opposite of the dummies. Something that assumes you already have an idea about the subject, but dont know excatly how to go about doing it. Something the reverse of the normal teaching method. FOr instance, im trying to learn pearl right now. The thing is all the books start out at the very basic, and go to the complicated. I would like somehting that takes a complex example and breaks it down in a logical manner. Yes, i can do this on my own, but itd be nice to have it set up that way in a book.
ANd im quite happy with electonic verisons, as long as theyre vaguely palm friendly.
Technically, my thermostat is AI within its boundaries. TEhy dont even have a real definition of human intellegence yet. It used tpo be tool user, but then someone noticed that chimps use tools, and we cant be calling those nasty little primates intellegent, now can we? So now its "uses tools to make tools". GImme a break. I do tech support, i know for a fact there are chimps out there smarter than some of my users. DOnt get me started on Dolphins and Grey parrots.
IT costs the sytems time and money to stor it all. Not to mention bandwidth and annoyance. I have a hotmail account that gets 50 spams a day. I ave up on using it because it was too big a hassle to sort through to pick out the stuff i wanted. So it costs hotmail.0002 cents a day to store my mail, now multiply that by 2 milion. Imagine you had to pay for it.
So, I've just purchaed NT server 4.0, and WWW server, and the tools to successfully run and troubleshoot them aren't included in either standard install? Me, I'll keep on blaming microsoft.
While i love astronomy as an interest, ive always found telescopes to be somewhat usless in terms of finding out whats out there. I mean, dont get me wrong, its great fun to take a look at planets and such through them, but ive always found reading about it more interesting, since theres only so much i can find out by looking up myself.
So, my city council can legislate that blacks cant drink out of a business water fountans, because they think thats best for the area? I understand your point, but I think that too often governments overstep their boundaries in terms of regulation.
Our laundry drain pipe was clogged up by a pair of underwear. They floated out and made it all the way through the pumping system, whatever the hell it is, and partway down the draining hose.
