How stupid would people have to be to believe that justification? Yeah, they are being bled dry because they are having to take money from the cash pile.
Just like other fields of engineering and science. Sure you can write a program without knowing much math but you can work on a car without knowing how to design and implement an internal combustion engine too. It's kind of like trying to compare the ASE certified tech to the engineer at the car company.
I lived in a small town and as a result knew most of the cops by first name. On Friday and Saturday nights, if they happened to pull up behind you after you left a party they'd follow you home. One time I wasn't followed home but managed to pull up in the driveway, take the car out of gear, engage the emergency brake, and fall asleep. I was awoke by a tapping on the window. I told the cop I was checking my thermostat... at 4 in the morning. He simply told me to go to bed. It was simpler less fascist time.
I agree with your comments on the future except that it's more of a regular middle not they'd be going out on. The best seasons, imho, were 2-7 and it's been sliding ever since. You can only rely on recycled stories and the pop culture star of the moment guest star so many times. Compare the story development in the earlier episodes to the current ones and there is no comparison. Season 3 was pure genius. Maybe if Conan O'Brien started writing again it would improve.
The best part was her cutting her arms with the shards of glass... "see, it doesn't hurt"... making me laugh isn't a good way try to show me that something is bad.
Ever talked to a plumber? Ask them about the condition of the pipes that deliver the water to you. I'm not talking about your house pipes, I'm talking about the main lines. You won't drink water from the tap anymore unless it's heavily filtered.
I'm sure there are a lot more people in the world that dislike Gates than there are that Actually know who McBride is. He's milking it, playing the victim, textbook passive agressive actions.
If you really know you algebra and trig you'll have no problem with Calculus. Calculus is just a set of computational rules based around the rates of change. Most of the engineering feats you see around you require a thorough understanding of higher math and physics. It may not be usefull to you directly but it is useful for the creation of many of the things that you may use in everyday life.
Troll!!!;-) To an extent you are right, part of Apples and Microsofts success is tight control of how things work. One of my arguments is needing to provide uniformity for users and developers. The fringe elements will always be there for those that want them, nobody is stopping you from running fvwm2 if you want, but common interfaces and ways of doing things help drive acceptance.
IANAL, but with the judgement that Microsoft was an abusive monopoly (not that anything has really been done about it) funding somebody else to sue a competitor seems like a highly illegal thing to do. Of course it sounds like it is in the guise of IP licenses and funneling business there way but if you ask me it looks coordinated.
Money has no intrinsic value other than that of the paper and ink it's made of. It does represent work and goods though. Do you think a coder can barter a certain amount of programming time for a tank of gas? The market helps drive trade, people specialize in fields and they sell those goods to those that most need them for money. You can then use that money to get things you couldn't otherwise barter for. Money is just an abstraction.
Acutal out loud laughter. I don't think that I need any more proof that Microsoft feels very threatened when I see puff pieces like this.

To me it's saying; play, have fun, learn, don't fuck people over. Now if they could only live by that same mantra.

I think Intel is noticing, no matter what you think.
...just wondering... what do you base those "opinions" on?
in that case you wouldn't be scared at all...
Depends on what you showed me in the interview.

50+ billion in the bank and they still can't modify a license to accomodate donating to charity. Sad really.
I was 21 in 1991 and had an account on AT&T 3B2 running SYS V connected to the internet.

If he was number one there would he sue too?

You sir, are correct!
...in light of Microsoft being declared in violation of anti-trust law, can they funnel money to others to tie up competitors in court?

When you collude with others to keep the price high rather than letting the market dictate the price.

I'm well aware of the case against MS and their practices, it doesn't invalidate what I said.
