Still interesting to note the gyroscope relationship. And unlike most of the other posters, I think this is a fabulous idea. Yes the virual Boy floped. But it was too soon. I mean, it was all red, it hurt the eyes. It was hardly 3d, it was uncomfortable, had no option to look around. It was a gimmik. The thing that would really be advantageous for having two screens that I can think of is 3D goggles. Sure, the press release doesn't come close to mentioning this. But it would be sweet. It would be like virual boy two, only it would actually work cause it would be in colour.

Also, if they use the same kind of leds they use in the GameBoy Advance, it might not be so hard on the eyes, as say those Sony TV goggles thingies that came out a few years back/

Yes yes. wide eyed speculation. But gawd damn it, I say whoever is the first to market with good 3D VR goggles for gaming wins prize.

And when you through in the fact that nintendo purchased all that gyroscope related IP, (http://www.gyration.com/pr-nintendo.htm) well,
put the the two together, and you got the building blocks of some damned sweet VR gogles.

  6. simple solution for digital voting. on Touch Screen Voting Industry Circling Wagons · · Score: 1

A little off topic, as it has nothing to do with the sleezyness of the story, but just an idea of a voting system that might actually work, in a nut shell make everyone audit all votes:

    Here goes
    1. All votes are assigned a unique number.
    2. This number is given to the voter after he makes the vote, and is sent to the database.
    3. The entire database of vote_number -> vote is stored in a single file, that is distributed to everyone. Yes thats right everyone gets a file contaning the votes of everyone else. Not with names, just anonymous numbers.

    This way:
A: everyone can make sure there vote was tallied the way it was supposed to be, by looking up the number they recieved on the master file.
B: everyone could be sure that the tally was accurate, bacause everyone would have the same file. The redundancy of the file would prevent anyone from manipulating the vote anywhere.

So what do you guys think, am I over looking something fundimental, or is it that simple. It doesn't even require open source software to be implemented. Just an open data set.

    That is all.

If people like an artist, or a content creator, they can give them money to make more.

For example a small game company could give away a game for free. And then they make a web site that says.
To make a sequal we need this much money: x.xx$

This would allow for P2P massivly multiplayer RPGs.
Worlds could span and grow endlessly, as you could download details of the lanscape from the people who virtually hang out in said landscape.

This amounts to an nearly infanite amount of storage, for creating huge complex, and detailed worlds. Of course the problem would be synching so everyone sees the same world. but some games might not require as much synching as others.
These online worlds could would be rapidly evolving.

AI NPC's could evolve by learing how other users play, and learning from other AI's they meet traveling from Playstation3s to Playstation3s.

Bassically we are talking about a gigantic computer on wich to run genitic type algorithems, allowing for wolrds that might actually grow in depth and realism over time.
The possibilities are mind boggling really.

Compared to todays MMORPG's I would say that such an advancrment would open up the possibilities for video games at least 1000x.
