  1. Why is MS the only one being blasted here? on Microsoft Update Slips In a Firefox Extension · · Score: 2, Insightful

Agreed, what MS is doing is TERRIBLE!

That said, if this was the other way around. Some 3rd party software installing something into / on top of some other software, people would be screaming of security holes and blasting MS or whoever for their shoddy software.

So where are the folks calling out FF for allowing this to happen?

And what is the limitations? If we could eventually 'reprogram' a cell, how does that help a failing organ? Even though our cells divide trillions and trillions of times they get 'old'. How would reprogramming a cell to make it think it is a heart cell or something else fix things? The replacing cell is still old and will fail sooner rather than later...

To me, the key is to understanding why cells eventually break down. At the core of it, we reproduce asexually by making clones of ourselves. Clearly outside influences will take a roll...toxins, radiation, etc... but why does a cell all of a sudden decide it has divided too many times and deteriorate? For my money, figure that out and you've pretty much figured out how to cure any age related disease. Heart failure / disease, liver, kidney, gall bladder, and prostate issues.

Isn't the trick to get the cell (whether by reprogramming, cleansing, or replacement) 'healthly' again?

Releases do not work. Not in that way from what I understand. In college when a bunch of friends and I rented a house we threw a HUGE party. Hundreds of people came throughout the night. We investigated the option of having some legal disclaimer, written / signed or otherwise. We found that on private properly, rented or owned, someone cannot sign away their rights or responsibilities while they are present on said property. It had something to do with it being a private residence and not a commercial venture. Sure it looks pretty on paper, but if push came to shove it wouldn't hold up.

Basically by you inviting them into your home by your own free will you are taking on "reasonable" responsibility for their safety and all that. With that said, I don't think you are liable for their possessions. They too are coming by their own free will knowing what they are getting into.

Long story short, save someone getting hurt or worse, you should be fine in terms of liability. Homeowners / Renters insurance covers a very broad number of things. Not sure if this helps your overall question or not...

Language and grammar isn't tough. That's not what I'm saying at all. What I was saying is that shouldn't be the determining factor in judging how educated someone is. That is all.

Einstein was a terrible speller...as am I. I think I read somewhere once, that most of his publications were written by others for him...not sure if that is true or not. Does that mean he wasn't educated, formally or otherwise? If spell check didn't exist I'd be shit outta luck. Does that mean I m not educated? Almost 10 years of industry experience, raises, and promotions say otherwise.

That's all I'm saying. In general I very much agree with you. A good portion of "college educated" people are dumb and aren't worth the paper their diploma is written on. On the other hand, I know people who fail miserably at common sense and other things you and I would consider simplistic, yet they are awesome CPAs, managers, and engineers.

Long story short picking one (relatively trivial) aspect and judging them on that is bogus. Would you rather have a doctor that can speak and write properly, or knows his shit when it comes to medicine?

I'm pretty sure this isn't true. If it was, exercising (making your heart beat faster for extended periods of time) would cut years OFF your life, not lengthen it.

HELLO!!! The use of this pill (provided it actually works) has nothing to do with dieting or not exercising, but has everything to do with recovering patience. Say I'm 80 and I broke my hip in a fall. Normally I wouldn't have a chance in hell at rehabilitation...but with a solution like this all of a sudden me walking again isn't out of the question.

Jane Doe has been in a coma for X months. Her body is atrophied. The road to recovery has just gotten a hell of a lot shorter and cheaper.

John Smith has ha major surgery. Maybe a heart attack or something. Does this pill mean his heart will be stronger? Less likely of a repeat visit to the hospital?

It is lame that all the media and general public see in this is the diet, vanity aspect.

After the initial learning curve, it is pretty easy to be able to churn out a blog, or a calendar / datebook, or photo repository. A simple program like that will introduce him to the basics of what programming is all about.

Hell, it beats copying 1000 lines from a BASIC book to create a text based game. Ahh, memories.

If he likes that stuff, it won't be a large leap to get into some of the more difficult languages like C++ or C# or Java or whatever. That's when the real fun can begin.
