This worked for me! I was addicted to WoW up until last summer. It was bad. Lots of time wasted. Then my family rented a boat for the summer. All of a sudden I had a different outlet. I would spend free time on the boat (obligated at first) and after about a two week period of not logging on, I realized just how much of life I was missing by pissing my time away at the game. when it is all said and done you gain nothing from these games. They are a great distraction like any other game, but when it takes 20+ hours to grab a new peice of gear...yea, that is too much.
I'm not saying other avenues of life are more productive than this game, but at least you get to *experience* it.
I know this is suppose to be a joke...but it is true for me.
I haven't played any other computer games since this came out. Not even Half Life 2... This one game has single handedly held my attention for almost a year now, and there is no end in sight.
This morning actually. My video card was waiting for me in the bushes this morning. As I left for word it lept out, fan blades spinning. It was quite a scare. Stupid ATI.
It isn't so much as his writing... His writing is good, his ideas are fantasitc, it is just that can't direct actors. Seriously, he is a technical director and has a vast and wonderful imagination. He can make action sequences pop off the screen...yet to re-iterate my point, he just can't direct actors.
So we end up with a visualy amazing film, with wonderufl action, but when it comes time to advance the story and deliver lines, the actors stumble and drag the movie down.
This is why Ep 1 - 3 are so akward with dialogue (Hold me. Hold me like you did on Naboo. *barf*). He had help with ep 4, and didn't direct 5 and 6.
At any rate, I think he does a good job, but needs help with actors.:)
You really think DNA would do something he didn't want to do? That I can hardly believe.
He say his creation as a radio series, book series and TV series... do you really think he cared about having it made a movie? DNA didn't seem like that kind of person.
Wasn't Marvin's design a throwback to how he appeared on the TV series?
That was my biggest gripe too...but I got over it pretty quick.
As far as adaptations go, this movie was wonderful. It was pretty true to the book (that is as much as it could be and still be a comprehendable movie). Plus Adam's has a bit of a say in the screenplay before he died.
I think a lot of people just set the bar too high on this one. Anything that has such a huge cult following will expect and only accept the absolute best...which in 99% of all films made, you just don't get.
Go see the movie with an open mind and knowedge that this is a movie and just have fun with it.
It is a good thing no one cares about your opinion.

Why do you have to start with the name-calling?
You guys are talking apples and oranges here. Apple was the first company to sell a GUI on a personal computer, but it was not the first GUI. Military computers / research computers had GUI well before Apple did. Can you guess who made those? I'll give you a hint...not Apple.
And you are again arguing about different things with the video recorders. Sony sold the first video recorder to the public, but Ampex first developed the technology in the 1950's.
Before you start being rude and calling names, why don't you read what the person is saying? In terms of marketable products, you are correct. In terms of industry 'firsts' you are wrong.
To comment on the gun to the head thing. If your life is in danger, you are not responisble for your actions.
If someone really put a gun to your head and said "I'll rape and kill you if you don't do X", then if you go and do X and can prove you were "made" to do it, it's all good.
You're telling me. After seeing Portman in these films I thought she was a crappy actress at best.
Then I saw Garden State. Wow. That movie restored my faith in her. Then I saw Closer. Wow. She is a really good actress given a director that is half competant and a script that wasn't written by a 5 year old.
Go see Garden State if you havn't seen it yet. That movie will change your perception on life.
What good is a game where you can simply buy your way to the top? It's pointless. There's nothing to distinguish the players from the poseurs, and that makes it a game not worth playing.
Yeah cuz you can't buy your way to the top in real life.
You're my hero.

Don't you mean kited them onto Larry?
Dude, why do you have a cell phone? Either dump it or go to anger management classes. Say it with me "Serenity now".

Wow. They have come a long way in their drawing.

Yes, but does he wear tights?

Ahhh. My mistake. I agree, the head was a bit, well, big.
I love "Life of Brian". People are here are just dumb sometimes. 9 out of 10 time you can just ignore us. =P
LOL, a book made into a movie that is *gasp* predictable? Go figure.
You really think DNA would do something he didn't want to do? That I can hardly believe.

2 differences...
1) You cannot make a comedy 4 hrous long. And for LOTR to be a good film and as accurate to the books as possible it needed to be 4 hrous long.
2) LOTR is action / adventure. The masses love action / adventure movies. You will captivate everyone from the XXX fans to the fantacy buffs.
And if you really think LOTR was made for the fans, then you don't know Hollywood.

Oh man, I didn't notice that before. My hat is off to you sir.
*sigh* leave it to me to make a joke only to screw up and use the word "use" instead of "used".
Blech.
At least the other poster use proper capitalization.
You mean you don't watch BSG? Bad! Bad!
Do no evil.

No you pretty much got them all...
