    Someone bought an uber ThinkPad running WinXP with 2GB RAM and 160GB HD (keep in mind this was mid 2000s) only to find out that it was a cleverly disguised box running Win98 with 64MB RAM and 40GB HD. There was enough alterations done to the Windows UI to indicate it was intentional deception.

    The lesson to be learn (and always kept in mind) "If it sounds too good to be true, it can't be true."

    Every sponsor of the study has its own angle on the issue, as such the result of the study is already predestine to prove the sponsor right. It's largely irrelevant what the result is as the result is pegged long before any data is collected or interpreted.

    Studies that disproved their sponsors' views have ways of disappearing into unfunded abyss.

    Apple IIe was launched in 1983 with 64k (expandable to 128k) after Epic Fail of the Apple III. Apple II+ was launched with 4k (expandable to 64k) in 1979.
    According to The Register what doomed Osborne is because of a RETARDED VP decided to throw good money after bad.
