Regardless, do you really want your car to not start in an emergenc,y because it think it detects something? Mouthwash, spilled isopropyl, other false positives... or because the sensor broke?
Actually, I had the same problem... and started putting "please place in box next to door" in the instructions for a few deliveries... now they seem to use it every time.
I have a box on my porch, keeps the packages dry ( apartment, no overhang ). But, I had a package go missing... and I was at home at the time... and checked just before and after it was marked for delivery. I think USPS delivered to wrong apartment, and the neighbor just kept it. The next day they also misdelivered a package to them, but I saw it on their doorstep and retrieved it ( it was a very unique box, and easy to identify ).
Amazon refunded me, but still it sucks. Makes my wary of having anything I can't get replaced, or refunded delivered here.
Honestly, the best solution is a good headset mic (with pop filter foam)... and software with a good multi-band compressor... If no usable software exists, a in-line (hardware) one could be made. A teeny 3.6 with a good external ADC (an external board exists for purchase) could be capable of this, possibly.
If not, some other ARM dev board with more grunt could do it.
I think in the near future, we will discover our consciousness isn't special or difficult to achieve. Much like we found out we weren't the center of the solar system, or even the center of the galaxy.
We are just robots with "emotions". Emotions are just involuntary reactions that were beneficial in our survival.
More than anything, I want service where I can pay more so I can use VoIP without problems, and watch 4k HDR content during peak hours... Or get really fast upload/download speeds for sending large files in a hurry.
Most people could give a rats ass if Netflix plays in standard def, because they have a 10-year-old+ small TV anyway...and many don't even use any video services at all... and would happily take a lower bill. But yet, there is just one speed and priority available.
Seriously, this is a capitalist country... I want them to shut up and take my money, and they won't do it.
That all great, but for some applications there aren't economical solutions.
I drive a full-size SUV, and sometimes a transit van for my (freelance) work. No one is making (or will be any time soon) an electric vehicle that are affordable in that size range. Even IF they could, range, cold weather issues and battery lifespan would all still be a huge issue for me. I regularly drive in off-road winter conditions, in sub-zero temperatures... and need the cargo space and range of an ICE.
I don't even want to think about how a lithium battery would perform in -20-30F temperatures after 15 years and 200k miles... on steep grades, with snow tires on a 200-300 mile round trip.
The turbo V6 versions have drawbacks, and don't really get better mileage in the real world. My current 15-year-old SUV gets within 1 or 2 mpg of the v6 turbo, and that's on crap menthol gas.
Yep. Most of the country drives large SUVs and pickup trucks. The whole the the USA is NOT the top 5 biggest liberal cities. If they can sell a supercharged V8 v10 or v12 version, it will open a new market segment.
I have a nearly 15 year old full-size SUV. I haven't bought a new one, because the new model is an aluminum v6.
I drove one on an icy road, and even with really good traction control, the turbo constantly and unpredictably kicking in... was making it very unsafe to drive in those conditions. I also really don't want aluminum, because it won't hold up to the ice, snow and salt... Not to mention how much more they cost to fix, and the lifespan of the turbo.
The fuel economy was also barely better... I'd get a better improvement in my current truck if I could still easily get non-ethanol gas...
Also, remember rechargeable bluetooth headphones will probably stop working, or having decent battery life after a few hundred charges... And eventually they will come up with a new standard and phase out bluetooth.
So, enjoy replacing your headphones in 5 years!
I have some sony headphones I bought back when I had the original discman. They still work, and still sound good.
Bluetooth headphones are more expensive, and heavier ( batteries / circuitry ). I don't want to check if my headphones need recharging or new batteries. The bluetooth audio codec is crap. You just wrap the wires around the headphones for cans, or for buds you wrap them and put them in a tin/container. Besides, good headphones have flat tangle-free cables. And I loathe everything wireless, that randomly has interference or pairing problems... Or decides to suddenly connect to another device.
Take your bluetooth and shove it.
I'd rather have a thicker phone with more battery life, that won't snap in half You can spend the extra money for bluetooth headphones that sound like crap, and i'll put all that money into headphones that actually sound good.
These are cheap, and probably sound 4 times better than your bluetooth headphones... and don't need electronic noise canceling. http://www.klipsch.com/product...
I'm fairly picky about desktop performance, but my processor is a 6-year-old 2600k. Eventually, I might go for the new 8700k when you can actually get the things.
More cores is great, if you regularly use software that benefits from it, but most doesn't benefit that much. At least high core count processors are finally getting better clock speeds, and single-thread performance.
But, yeah... In six (almost seven) years I've upgraded SSD sizes once, replaced some dead RAID drives and upgraded GPUs twice.
I would also say, that I have noticed marked improvements im my health over the last year and a half. I don't struggle to breathe when exerting myself ( i live at > 6000 ft ), I sleep better, im not groggy in the morning, and I don't get the "i need a smoke" grumpiness.
I used to smoke. I tried vaping to just try it. I unintentionally ended up quitting smoking.
I don't know *why* vaping is different. But it surely is. When I smoked, I woke up groggy and dying for a smoke. Then, I would have a smoke, and then have a nicotine rush.
Then, later in the day I would get grumpy and need to smoke.
Now that I vape... its just something I do because it's relaxing. I never think "Where is my vape pen, I need to use it.". If it turns out it's really bad for me I would just stop using it.
Sometimes I sit and enjoy using it... Other times I forget about it for days. I keep lowering the dose, too.
Just remember, there is a huge industry that want to discredit e-cigs.

and we should just trust that.... because?
and why is apple getting rid of it, why?
Fuck off.
Hah! I have a Late 2013 MacBook, and they completely dropped CUDA support for the GPU on it.
Upgraded OS, tons of my software now runs at an unusable speed.
And good luck trying to obtain an older version of the OS to install.

The real problem is everyone is trying to move everything to the federal level.
There are states for a reason.

They still work, and still sound good.
Also, it's nice to think if you break your new "headphone jack" connector with your headphones, you can't charge your phone anymore too!
Your headphones are still analog. They are even sending analog audio out over USB-C.
If you had to twist the jack to get it to work, it was broken.
If it was digital, it would have just stopped working altogether.

Yeah. I'd rather have a phone that had more battery life... Rather than thinner.
They already feel like they might snap in half in your pocket.
I can't comprehend the comments saying the 3.5mm jack is crap.
It's just contacts providing voltage to speakers.
There is no way to improve upon it.
Yep. I bought a cheap ($150) printer, ($120 if you get a refurb) black and white laser printer/scanner/fax/etc.
Problem solved.
Toner is super cheap ($50) and lasts a very long time(2500 pages).
It connects via WiFi or ethernet and everything is good.
Set it up with a static IP though
(not hard, you can do it on the printer itself).
Mac/Win and drivers still struggle with the IP changing...
Even on this cheap printer, I'm able to print from my iPhone.
Yep. I routinely drive up to 9000 feet with my telescope and I can walk around just fine by starlight only.
I've been able to see the ground and walk with no moon. It takes 30-45 minutes of dark adaptation.
Yeah, it's very slowly happening.

I get up 1:15 before i need to leave... i lothe rushing in the morning when im not awake yet.
Red has been doing 4k for some time... People have been shooting 6k and now recently 8k on them.
The 8K helium sensor is amazing.
...All the repair shops that could pop up would be a lot of good paying jobs.
