  1. How accurate are their numbers? on Toshiba Subsidizes $200/Unit on New HD Player · · Score: 2, Informative

they seem to be listing the full retail cost for the memory module. Why would toshiba be paying retail price on anything in the unit? wouldn't they be buying wholesale? if all their numbers are off, that's up to a 30% inaccurate estimate for the price of the parts. which takes away most of the 'so called loss lead per unit'

anyways, they could be taking a loss per unit, but i am really skeptical about the numbers being given in the parent article.

This issue goes deeper than just 'security' of the campers, but also to disgruntled campers taking random nude photos off the internet and claiming that they were taken at camps etc, smearing the names of camp councelors etc.

Still, most social networking sites have some kind of profile reporting system, usually staffed by volunteers, to keep nudity offline... but yeah, i can kinda see both sides of the issue on this one, both letting kids socialize, and at the same time trying to keep them safe. really it's up to the parents of the children to teach them good manners and responsibility, and how to socialize acceptably.

As to banning reality, I know quite a few people with an iron curtain of suspension of disbelief. how well it works depends on your definition of 'working.' If living inside a cave with no access in or out is your idea of a 'working security model' then feel free to enjoy the perfect harmony of letting nobody in :)

Sure that's 2 years away, but unless I overlooked a firewall (there are so many for windows) or they use some kind of open source package that probabbly has ipv6 firewall capability already. i have to wonder how they're going to keep secure.

It's an add-in :) nobody made you download it, if you don't like it someone else already told you what you could copy/paste to acheive a non-drm version of the same thing.

True, you don't need 120 megapixels to take a high school prom photo, but there are probabbly enough profesional uses for this camera to find a place in the market. what the size of that market is is going to take some research, which no doubt they already did.

And you know what, i don't care if my joke was funny or not, i just explained it out fully because you asked. so for people who don't bother to use wiki or google, this was somewhat useful, but not useful enough for me to use a karma bonus.

perhaps the confusion you're getting from me is that i used lightweight in a non conventional way. but hey, it is still a VALID usage of lightweight. light weight in terms of 'efficient' not 'lines of code'

I find your negativity a disgusting life view :) Let me tell you a secret, wikipedia has a lightweight bit of code that lets them track how people tend to 'edit' entries. this is why certain topics have a 4-day account limit, so that code has an ability to determine how that person tends to edit or view wikipedia. I've even heard that there are two versions of wikipedia, the 'real' one, and a 'fake' one. the real one of course has the edits that are done by people who value the truth, the fake one is where people use lies to try and confuse the masses. I don't know if it's true, but seriously man, lighten up already :) it's an online dictionary, that people can edit. personally i've found so called edit wars annoying, as well as funny.

just because 'perfect' systems rely on 'perfect' input doesn't mean they can't be built. it would just get really, really mind numbingly boring if every entry on wikipedia read about as cut and dried as the typical on the shelf dictionary. the user edit process allows a lot of interesting and fun things to come about :) i think the 4-day rule is just pointless, and will ultimately be discarded.

I seem to recall wikipedia tried a ban on anonymous edits and that rule too wound up being rejected. it just didn't help the wikipedia project, so they got rid of it.

There are way more projects that are doing awesome even with all the chaos of people leaving and swapping around than those failing. it's all because you can 'use the source, luke' *hums starwars theme* master jedi can find a balance to the source, and can cut out the 'tainted' lines of code, or simply use them, to build a stable application. Just remember not to turn to the dark side young jedi, for we can always watch the fate of poor anakin, who struggles his entire life with the way he allowed his own fear to twist his fate, as he wound up being the very man who fufilled the prophecy that he dreamed would happen unless he persued great power.

ah well who really cares life would get boring if we didn't have a few crazies turning to the dark side. I'm just glad we can all choose our own destiny.

Every razer I've used has been a top class gaming mouse. I don't think it's 'just' a marketing gimick, my razer diamondback feels aqward in my hand, after years of using a MS intellimouse. sure calling it a 'rts/mmo' is a gimick, but their different mice all have slightly different body shapes. if you have a preference of mouse body type, then this is a good thing :) and yeah it has a rubber strip below the 4-5,6-7 buttons because RTS/MMO gamers tend to pick up the mouse a LOT. for lasso selects, or for other features of the games they're playing :)

In addition they could have their 'mouse drivers' pre optomized for various 'presets' that are better for experienced RTS/FPS players. while using my diamond back i found there were a lot of changes i had to make to the 'default' settings.

true i'm capable of peaking at 1200 apm when i am using both hands, and all my fingers... but yeah, there is a certain amout on marketing hype abotu the product, but that just helps people who don't know the differences between products pick the right mouse.

I've looked at the picture, and that stripe along the side looks to be the 4-5, 6-7 button a nice long one unlike the narrow one on the diamond back i have.

Razer makes good mice, but there are a lot of companies who make good mice, i was just trying to clear up your confusion about this product :) it is a 7 button mouse.
