I've had success installing Mandrake using the network install
floppy. Here are some simple
instructions, but the gist is that you download the network.img
and note the location of a rpm mirror for when it asks you. It
downloads a 45mb cramfs image and uncompresses it to memory so you
should ideally have 90+mb of ram, or mount a swap partition from one of
the other terminals.
I would recommend doing a very minimal install consisting of nothing
but GNOME or KDE and any servers you wish to run. Then after the
install, use urpmi
to install any other packages. With 9.1 I would get lynx and use it to
grab a list of mirrors from Easy
Urpmi. I recommend using Texstar's repository whenever he starts
packaging for 9.2. The page currently only has 9.1 and earlier sources,
but expect people pestering him from this link to illicit an update.
Tho playing mario and such with gc controller might feel a bit wierd.
The answer is the Hori Digital Controller. It is a gamecube controller that mimics the form and functionality of the Super Nintendo controller. It was designed for use playing games that don't require analog control such as Mega Man Anthology and Game Boy Player games.
It comes it two high fashion colors: blue and black.
As far as Commander Keen and Wolf3d go, your best bet is the open source dos emulator DOSBox. There are ports for Windows, BeOS, and Linux and I'm sure the source will compile on other *n?x systems.
The problem is that DOSBox doesn't support protected mode as needed by DOOM. But that is not a problem because there are plenty of open source DOOM engines. A quick search of sourceforge turns up DOOM Legacy. It has netplay and should work on all varieties of OSes.
I give you exibit A: Kangaroo Jack. Truely proof that even with a horrible premise, script and cast, marketing can rake in a lot of suckers. Although the production cost was $60 million. Total in the DVD sales and a sack of bees becomes marketing gold.
It is just me or did the soundtrack seem, well, japanese?
The song used is the movie is "Let Me Be With You" and according to some lyrics I found, the artist is ROUND TABLE featuring Nino. The song was used as the title theme to the anime series Chobits.
The series was recently released on DVD in North America and seems to have a sold fan following. Although I have to admit, the song is vastly out of place in a Halo video. I've watched the fan subs and a song whose refrain made me cry in the last episode seems like blasphemy in this context. Why couldn't they have done like every other demo video and choose generic metal like that Drowning Pool song "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor"?
I was under the impression that some of the pdfs were made from the printer's source postscript file or something to that effect. I know a guy who pull D&D manuals off KaZaa that are perfect copies. I think he's the reason that the campus computer labs instituted printer quotas.
I can see the day when companies like McDonald's or Taco Bell start their own music labels.
CocaCola already is doing something like this. They run silly CokeFMads on radio stations to get airplay (albiet short) for some artists. I don't see where the motive comes from, but someone has to be profiting.
MSN Messenger lets you communicate with MSN subscribers and other passport users. Its readily downloadable and works with your own personal throw-away hotmail account.
I have theorized that a good (and rather complicated) way to reach profit would be to:
1. Register a domain like torrent.--- or *"storage unit"-"word for a storm"*. 2. Grab open source tracker code for a torrent meta site. 3. Run it on clueless cheap virtual hosting with "unlimited bandwidth". 4. Pay ever increasing bills. 5. Rack up substancial page views and a loyal following. 6. Claim the slowness is due to DoS attacks and take the site down. 7. Go offline for two weeks and come back with message requesting donations for "colocation and a new server". 8. Come back with slightly better dedicated hosting. 9. Put up a message saying you have been threatened with a lawsuit and are closing forever. 10. Go to Las Vegas.
Is it really possible to spend five days talking about an
image format no one has ever used?
BuddyZoo has a nice use for
SVG, you may have heard of it somewhere.
I don't like the Adobe SVG
Viewer but the Apache Software Foundation's Batik project is good for
turning SVG into a nice (albiet big) PNG.
java -jar batik-rasterizer.jar FILE.svg
Although you might have to futz around with the svg code generated
by to get it to work with Batik. Run it through an XML validator to see
what I mean. (There is top level <svg> but two closing
</svg> so delete the one that isn't at the end.)
that is why listen to public domain music ( mozart)
The sheet music itself may be public domain, but any performances of them are the owner of the performer and subject to copyright. You could download the sheet music and perform it, but downloading an orchestral recording would be a violation of the law.
Furthermore, some public domain music old enough that it must be transcribed and rearranged to work in a modern orchestra because of variations in the pitches produced by instruments of later eras. This arranged music is also copyrighted by the arranger, who is entitled to compensation for use/purchase.
So if you're looking for some music , may I suggest some Irving Berlin? His work is (relatively) recent and quite upbeat. By now, older performances are probably public domain, as well.
All of the Ben & Jerry's factories are in Vermont. Personally, I've been on the tour at the factory in Springfield several times so I'll discuss that. You start out with a little multimedia presentation and then walk through some elevated paths above the work floor. After that you go and get free samples of whatever two flavors of ice cream that where produced the previous day.
Its a little more than my brief description, but it has always been fun. It'd probably be better to go during the summer so you can lounge around and enjoy a cone on the deck outside the factory.
Overall, its a nice cheap way to waste an afternoon if you're in the area. Although they're not factories, you'd probably want to visit some local agrarian type places like a farm, fruit orchard or (maple) sugar house.
Whether you're looking to install Gentoo on a old pentium to use as a router or sacrificing your first born to compile KDE, it should make things go quite a bit faster.
Well unless every computer you own runs Gentoo you want to emerge world.
You have to update the package repository so that it points to new 9.2 sources and then run
in a terminal as root. Wait a couple days for Easy Urpmi to get a list compiled for 9.2.I've had success installing Mandrake using the network install floppy. Although my method involves going to the local public library and signing them out.

And I just googled "pepsi music" and wouldn't you know it?
