Thank you. This comment was very helpful. I wished I'd known about this earlier. By the way, in my version of firefox, it was in the "Web Features" tab, not the content tab.

Well, also I find it easier to just download a show via torrent and then burn it to a dvd. It's usually faster to download this way than transfering via usb. You can also usually get the shows in a much better quality format for shows that are produced in HD. Then just burn that to DVD and you can watch on your HDTV at the correct aspect ratio.

Hmmm... I have downloaded it and mounted my ipod until /mnt/IPOD and then tried to run it on a .m4p file. The resulting file was not able to be played by faad or itunes. Anyone else had any luck?

For me the radio plays will always be the highlight, though, with the books in second place. The animations on the TV series were *wonderful* but everything else looked wrong. Trillian is a sight classier than that, for a start (she's an astrophysicist ffs, not an airhead Essex blonde). Ford and Arthur looked nothing like they did in my head. And Zaphod... spare us. And as someone else said, Marvin doesn't really look like *that* does he?!

  16. KDE most impressive open source project - ever on KDE 3.2 Release Candidate 1 Debuts · · Score: 3, Interesting

The progress that these guys have made in 5 years and the sheer volume of quality code is simply amazing. What are these guys doing right as compared to all the other projects? They even stick to their development and release schedules better than most commercial companies. And despite everyone calling for the death of C++, KDE is the shining example of what can be accomplished in that language. I seriously doubt it could have been constructed in any other language and produce as quick and relatively error-free code as these guys have produced.

  17. Interesting things at google. on Google Eyes New Email Service, Expansion · · Score: -1, Interesting

Is google going to eventually require some kind of stripped down registration for this service? They've slowly (over the past year or so), started to roll out a pervasive registration for their various services (Adsense, Adwords), and optional registration would make sense here too.

On the other side of things, Google stands to make a killing here. Google can sell a new class of ads to people like plumbers, who don't need a webpage. In fact, they could possibly host a minimal web page for those kind of advertisers who just want to show some simple text and services.

Hey, perhaps Google wants to give me some kind of idea fee???
