  1. Re:Multiple voIP adapters behind NAT? on Start Your Own Open Source-Based Telecom · · Score: 1

Good, I am glad to hear this. I actually have a HotBrick LB2 router, which does QOS and (if Frontier ever get off their ass and get better phone lines out my way) has two broad band connections on it so it should be able to load ballance between a DSL line and a cable internet line. NOTE: This is not a recomendation for the Hotbrick as I am having all sorts of issues with it and routing.

  2. Multiple voIP adapters behind NAT? on Start Your Own Open Source-Based Telecom · · Score: 1

Hmmm maybe some one here more knowledgeable than I about voip will be able to answer this question. I own a multi-family dwelling, and I have a business class internet connection which I share with the other people living in the house. If we each got our own voip adapter (I am thinking the Linksys Vonage adapter) could we all use them and have our own individual phone lines? Or another way of saying this is "can I have 5 voip adapters behind a NAT router" and still have them work?

  3. Re:Ambulance drivers don't go full speed on Traffic Light Control For The Masses · · Score: 5, Interesting

OK, a few things here (and yes I have experience wiht this, only not with an ambulance, but with a fire truck, however the concepts are still the same.)

First off if the ambulance driver is any good, he/she does not go full speed through a green light, or a red light, or a yellow light for that matter. If they are really good, they stop and make sure they have the right of way. Believe it or not, in most cases that have made it to court where an accident occured between a civilian and a emergency vehicle, the Emergency Vehicle driver was held accountable. This is true even in the case where the Ambulance had a green light to go and the ambulance was struck BY the civilian running a red light. (I don't remember the specific case but was taught to us when we took our driving course.) Personally I stop at every light, green or not and make sure that I have EVERYONES attention before going through an intersection. It is better to get my truck, and my fellow fire fighters there in one piece than to crash the truck and not get there at all.

Another interesting point of fact, (at least in New York state) the flashing red lights give NO legal rights to disobey the speed limit. This is something I allways try and keep in mind, because you do kind of feel invincible when you are driving those big red trucks.

I mentioned this a week ago in the discussion on LBX and it was misunderstood. So I will try it again.

Sun has released hardware called "SunRays" which are thin clients. These thin clients have something called "Hot Desk" ability which basically allows you to leave one terminal and have your whole session show up on another terminal in exactly the same state you left it. This would be a GREAT thing to have. I am hoping to be able to set something like this up in my new house. Does anyone know how Sun is doing this? Is anyone working towards something like this for the "Opensource" world?
