Yes, in the UK if you told that to the judge and they couldn't prove you were watching TV then you are okay. I owned a tv and video projector for some time before I finally caved and got a TV license. Until then I didn't watch TV. No problem.
I was at the UK national Bat conference this years and there were a couple of presentations on bat kills around wind turbines. It turns out that the strange noised attrach insects and therefore bats. Certain wind farms in the use, I forget which, are on migration paths for bats. There is a suggestion that they turn off the wind turbines come migration session.
Since bats are a key part of bug control, particularly in the US, you might want to think about protecting them,
Also remember that insectiverous bats, ie the small ones, evolved* there ability to ecolocate seperately from the unrelated mega bats, mostly fruitbats.
While VoiceOver is a nice addition it really isn't up to the level of JAWS on Windows. For example if you Tab around the "Universal Access" pages of "System Preferences" it doesn't properly announce the names of any elements. All you get is the fact is that you have select "1 of 2" radio buttons. I would be deeply suspicious of any assitive technology where the dialog that turns it on isn't properly accessible.
Also VoiceOver doesn't appear to work well with Java which is a shame. Just bring up a context menu and you will see what I mean. Only a few items are actually read out.
So while I think this has promise I would promote it for day to day use yet.
I bought a refurbed rowbot machine a month or so ago and it does my garden a treat. The wirling blades are underneath and it is stuff with kit that makes the blades stop should anything come near.
Nearly all of the SPAM email to am email address that I kept hidden for this reason come from a one line change I submitted to JRefactor for context menus on the mac. But still at least I got some credit for it!:-)
Remember that a lot of mac kit is specifically designed to use convection to move air and therefore heat through the box. For example an old-style iMac will probably melt as it relies heat rising. Not something that is gonna happen in zero-g. You might need to be changing the fans and such like.
I actually tried to do this in a java applet for the second year project at reading university in 1995. But my neural networks teacher said that it had been done years before and we had to do someting inovative.
I think it is a nice touch from apple not required a.Mac membership to use this tool. Although WebDAV servers are harder to come by it feel less of a tie in than.NET for example

One thing that worries me about orbital towers is the impact on the weather and the local environment. Something that big must affect local rain patters in some way...
Also what about the risk of it falling down? An orbital tower will wrap about the earth more than once if it falls. The description in Red Mars was particularly though provoking.
Happily running USB 2.0 card on my Mac OS X machines as I write this. IBut for the life of me I can't remember what it is called. If you search version tracker you will find drivers for another card from a company called Orange.
Just go through reading ringworld by Larry Niven, this had an interesting scenario of a dyson "ring" that had apparently lost it technology.
It turned out that all civilisation had been lost due to little microbes eat all there high temperature semiconductors. With not power all of a sudden it was not possible to boot-strap into any other form of technology.
One quote in the book was about the fact that on earth polythene had to be abbandoned as too many things have been trained to eat it.:-)
As of now there are zero, I mean 0 known virus threats for MacOS X. According to my antivirus software that I bought for my new mac. What a mug I felt.

Two points,
1) MP3 is patent protected
2) Even the Zune playes ACC

This would make things easier for sure...

This has been out for a while, for porters only granted; but that is a big step.

Jesus, 2+ weeks.
In the UK even the worst jobs offer at least 24 days + 7 public holidays. In my current job I have 35 days + 7 days public holidays.
Geez, to live in a free market economy....

Except for all those spinny disk things and those little arms with the read heads on them.
So apart for that they have no moving parts.
What about the two, of three leap years in between.
:-)
Or do they take those off?

I actually tried to do this in a java applet for the second year project at reading university in 1995. But my neural networks teacher said that it had been done years before and we had to do someting inovative.
Shame I have no docs to prove it!
Have you tried JDeveloper? Designer? Both of these tools are very powerfull and relatively easy to use.
What tools are you talking about SQL*NET? The basic command line tool?
At work I have a dual processor 'Windtunnel' Apple Mac running Mac OS X. Does this not count as SMP? Or have I misunderstood the term?
(Dawin is of course a flavour of BSD)

Doesn't the computer misuse act prevent putting in code that will disable software?
Okay, it is a slow day so I will bite.

Even for Mac OS 9 there are very few viruses.
Can I ask why you using println all the time, when there are excellent java tools avaliable with great debuggers?
(For example JDeveloper, JBuilder, Ecplise...)
Just interested....
