    Using your logic we'd all be dead at 40.

    I don't know who "meant" for me to old but I hope that research lets me lead an active life and avoid cancer, alzheimers, parkinsons, arthritis, and muscle atrophy. You could easily say all of these are just part of the aging process.

    How about we reword your sentence

    "News flash for all you ladies and gents out there ... you were never meant (by who??) to think/act/reason in your forties (and beyond) like you did in......"

    Pretty screwed up.

    Thats a really crappy solution....for everyone.

    At the minimum there should be a premium service where the packets are prioritized. If I'm running a business or just want to play a game I should have an option to get decent performance when I want it.

    Normal incandescent bulbs work by lowering the voltage over the bulb. If I understand correctly this isn't a good approach for LED based lighting. You really want to do pulse width modulation (PWM) where you switch the device on/off at different rates to dim the light. A simple circuit in the bulb could do this based on changing voltage but it would add some cost.

    Oh, and I'm sure we will have people saying they can see the blinking even if its in the Khz range...

    Actually this is positive feedback. Negative feedback produces a stable situation. We have negative news feeding back to create more negative news. Thus positive feedback. If negative news created positive results we'd have negative feedback.

    No, I'm not anal at all. Just having a hard time stabilizing and amp I'm designing so its on my mind :).

    You may not need constant contact but whats wrong with wanting it? Believe or not some people are close to the mother/father/brother/sister and want to share experiences with them.

    You know, the whole tax thing makes me feel bad for local stores. Its really not fair, plain and simple. I don't want to pay taxes....err I mean have a company calculate my taxes for me on online purchases but to be fair they really should.

    If the internet companies can't compete when people have to pay taxes then its not a viable business model.

    Without more info its hard to give a good pointer. If you know the basics getting an IEEE account and searching for papers there is really the best approach. If your looking for a good general text I don't think you can go wrong with

    CMOS Circuit Design, Layout, and Simulation, Second Edition (Hardcover)
    by R. Jacob Baker (Author)

    Best general Analog text book I've read.

    I was pulling $15 hr 15 years backs as an EE intern. My intern at IBM did help a ton though. In fact I ended up getting 4 different offers at different IBM locations (didn't take any of them though).

    You know, they wouldn't have to go that far. I'm in Colorado, if they put a data center in one of the higher mountain towns I imagine they could significantly reduce their costs.

    I guess the other thing they could look at is using a heat exchanger and use that excess heat for hot water heating or something.

    No, a Perl lover will jump in and say Perl is FAST to write. Its so easy to do so many things. I'm not talking large systems here, I'm talking things you need to do day to day.

    I've yet to find another language where I can process a text file 100 different ways with just a few lines. I really don't give a damn if anyone else can read or maintain my short scripts. There for me.

    I still have to disagree. I've been involved in plenty of hiring decisions. For grads recently out of college if they don't have the grades they don't make it through the resume sort.

    I'm not saying that the best grades make the best employees. Far from it. Taking that one step further, PHDs seem to be about the worst employees.

    Its kinda like the old saying, "nobody was ever fired for choosing IBM." Well if an employee isn't performing its much easier to say he had the grades than try to say you had a hunch.

    Besides, having good grades is a reflection on work ethic. Half the jobs (ok, 90% ) of the jobs in corporate America are boring as hell. That doesn't mean they don't need to be done well.

    Yeah, the big thing I'm also not seeing is GRADES. I know, this is slashdot and everyone will give an example of why it shouldn't matter but it does. If the poster had graduated at the top of his class (from a good school) this wouldn't be an issue.

    If grades are a problem go take a few grad classes and bust your ass to get good marks. This will show your trying to improve...

    Where in CO do you live? In the mountains?

    I ask because I live in Fort Collins and pretty much everyone has AC. I grew up in Aurora and back then most people didn't but my parents are still there and most the houses have had it added.
