See, you think you're joking. But years ago, supervising computer labs in college, I actually ran into a woman who _insisted_ that it wasn't working, but _she_ hadn't broken it. Turns out she hadn't turned it on...... Commence explanation of how the mac in front of her is a lot like the stereo in her dorm room, it requires electricity to work...:-/
You know, in 2000 there were a lot of people talking like this... "the candidates are indistinguishable", "no difference"... To be completely honest, I was one of them. But after 3 years with GWB and his cronies in the oval, I can definitely see a difference now...:-(
I believe the correct pluralization of "Library of Congress" would be "Libraries of Congress". Much as the plural of "Attorney General" is "Attorneys General".;-)
Anyone remember The Mote In God's Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle? Not that the Moties _intended_ it as a signal, but it was a laser, and it was definitely noticed.
I think it's even a little more clear than the parent post states since this is a rights issue.
True, but I'm afraid the parent post makes a more convincing argument. Congress couldn't care less about a rights issue, unless it pertains to the rights of their corporate overlords. The parent post attempts to frame the problem in economic terms because money is one of the few motivators a legislator is likely to grasp.
Yeah, except that Coca-Cola has a whole army of folks whose only job is to make sure that this isn't the case, legally at least. All they do is go to establishments that don't serve Coke and order it. If the waiter doesn't say "will Pepsi be OK?", DING!, a nasty-gram from their lawyers, a lawsuit if it persists.
Other companies do similiar things to try and prop up their market share, Red Bull being the big example that comes to mind. There was an article on this in the Los Angeles Times recently (last sunday, maybe?).
True, there are more 'specialized' pieces in modern lego sets, but they tend to not be restricted to just one set. Many times I will see a new piece plainly molded for a new set, and figure that it can't possibly be re-used.
But they always seem to find a way to make new uses out of weird pieces. Little ocean plants become muzzle flashes, that's the one that brought this re-use phenomenon home to me.
All that being said, I do have fond memories of my childhood with 'regular' legos. Big fun!
But how does this affect insurance? If it's their stuff and you only license it, they should cover the costs for keeping the jig insured against theft, right?
no. consider a leased automobile. it is your responsibility to insure it against theft, collision, whatever. it is still owned by the dealer, but has been released to your care. you have a responsibility to care for it and return it (in reasonable condition, generally specified in the contract) upon demand.
Almost. The representative, it would seem, is to 'represent' the corporate interests of his/her constituency. A simple mistake, to be sure. You just missed one word. See how much it changes the meaning though?;-)
Seriously, though... I would hope whoever challenges him in the next election plays this for all it is worth.
The government has managed in a surprisingly small amount of time to compile a database linking phone numbers and email addresses with 41M entries.
this is why I made a point to not register via the webform (that requires a valid email address), choosing to register via the supplied phone number instead. No mapping between valid phone and valid email.
False negatives are unlikely. The whole idea of card counting is to adjust the amount of your bets and the aggressiveness of your play as the count (and thus the odds) changes to (dis)favor you. If you're not adjusting your behavior with the count, card counting is pointless. It's the adjusted behavior that a casino looks for, correlated against what they know the count to be.
because some cities won't allow bikes on commuter rail during the heavy commute window. if your office isn' within walking distance of a train station you're sort of screwed... but they will allow segways (at least for now).

He's not a politician, he's a civil servant. There is a huge difference there.
uh, not exactly.

I believe you meant "semantics"...
the phrase is ambiguous, since the ',' before 'and use' is optional... so, using braces to group and remove ambiguity, is it saying
possession for commercial (purposes and use)
or
(possession for commercial purposes) and use
it makes a big difference. i.e. does it outlaw non-commercial use? if not, it may have been better written
the sale, advertisement, possession for commercial purposes, and use
Well, it's fairly clear that we do have a separation between Parent and Reality. Does that help? :-/
MS is on more of a six _year_ death spiral, no?
umm, I've already got two...
But you _were_ able to find the feedback form?!?

You've never listened to a Clear Channel station, have you?
wow, if you think 'five digits' is long, you're going to hate to type six characters. ;-)
