Unless Facebook conspires to kill off competition I don't think it is fair to attack Facebook. Obviously when a company creates a lot of wealth it can do more research, hire better and more experts and present a better product. That is exactly what a company is supposed to do. We see Wall Mart with buying power that is very difficult to compete against. Obviously in Wall Mart wants to sell bicycles they can buy them at a lower price simply because they can invest and order 20,000 bikes in one shot. For less successful stores ordering 500 bikes is a chore and difficult to afford. Just because it is difficult to compete does not equal it being a monopoly. The smaller chain stores are free to acquire investors and build resources greater than Wall Mart or Face Book for that matter. Action is only justified if crushing competition is the goal of a company which it clearly was with Microsoft a few years ago. The way forward is doing better yourself and not holding other people or companies back.
Florida requires a concealed carry permit. You can not get a permit for openly displaying a firearm. Only cops have that privilege. So here we have a tax collector that feels tax collectors can openly display a weapon. What happened to the law being equal for all people all of the time?
A plan to have police respond to an area that has a high crime rate around 3 pm seems reasonable and in a way race is not involved. Gut the effect of such a plan is very racist in its consequences. Poor people do drug deals and prostitute on the side walks and they are easily caught so the area gets a high crime rate designation. Rich people frequently commit far greater crimes but it takes place behind mansion walls and usually goes unnoticed. On top of that the cops know that a bust on a rich person will result in expensive lawyers fighting for the guilty party whereas the poor get minimal legal help and no funding at all for investigations. often in a given area poverty and race are highly related so for a cop his promotions are much more likely to occur when he arrests poor people. So the effect of a seemingly innocent program can in its effect be severely racist. On top of that our legal system actually creates crimes. for example a burglar gets caught and needs a top notch lawyer. in his head it hits him that he will need to commit several crimes to pay for the lawyer so while he is out on bail he is breaking into more homes and businesses. Both our civil and criminal laws need a total new way of dealing with problems and the laws we have now belong in a trash basket.
I can say that every day I spend time seeking to hear that trump has resigned, been arrested, or trotted off to the local asylum. That man is messed up. He is too far gone to be in any position in which he can harm others or himself. Maybe if he touches off an all out nuclear holocaust what's left of the public will cart him into the asylum.
Normally we see charges brought up by a law enforcement entity and then get all the paper work and interviews put into play. Now we have the reverse. No charges are made yet the responding entity is expected to deliver all kinds of information. When False accusations are made and cause legal actions the accuser needs to be punished. That is absent from this investigate now and charge later tactic. Why not sweep up lower level people and put them on trial and then allow them to give up all that they know to reduce or eliminate their punishments? That is what we are seeing in the Trump investigation. Those easily convicted are being rounded up and you just know that most will sing like a song bird to avoid steep punishments.
You see the great delusion is at work. Satan has tricked you into thinking that facts, evidence and thought are good things when we all know that that evidence and those facts have been created by Satan to deceive us. Now excuse me as I have to step onto the patio and wait for the goose that lays the golden eggs.
If you have a labor vs. time issue you hire more people with the abilities needed to do the job. That means it is really a money problem or a cheap problem. Where you run into this is when you are a consumer. you have an issue. You make a phone call. You run into fruitless robotic replies that do not address your issue at all and every time they steer you to another robotic responder you end up at another dead end. The penny pinchers have gained control. It is one heck of a lot cheaper to jerk people around with poorly functioning answering machine programs. And it gets a lot worse. The next treat is that when you finally find a way to connect with a human they are usually so under trained or adequate for their jobs that the answers you get are way off base and make things even worse than they were before. I have found the way to get around those voice robots and that is to call the sales department. No business is dumb enough to insult potential buys with no human answering the phone. The sales department will usually transfer you to an employee who supposedly is familiar with the issue. If you want practice at this madness simply become a Comcast customer. You can have a real thrill as they can't figure out that you were double billed for over four months. Rarely can the people who answer the phones that you are lucky to reach, actually know what they are doing. And more of a howler the typical employee thinks they are super good at their job.
I live in a condo complex in which being of any race other than white triggers a call to the police department. A lot of people have very absurd ideas of what is dangerous when they are aged. how many times has a garbage collector been shot for stepping onto the property in every state? The problem is that "what they know" or common sense in their minds is total bull crap. I sometimes have more than one friends that are female living with me. You can not imagine the hatred and lies that spread through a condo community just for that. We have numerous security cams as well as seniors who actually use binoculars and watch all day for whatever is happening around here. And some will even create lies to try to be the best creep in the condo association.
If subway cards are cut off and you can not buy new ones that is a clear instance of freedom of speech being restrained and punishment by a government for speaking freely. not only should each person who has suffered such nonsense sue but there could even be criminal charges for those that approved of such a policy. The subways were nasty fifty years ago and they are still nasty. Among other things a restroom should be on each car. Some subway trips are an hour or more and if you ate something wrong the night before you may be in a big brown pickle due to not having fast access to a toilet. The screaming of the wheels when tight turns are made is also a problem that should vanish. The poles you use when no seats are available need at least an hourly cleaning. Who knows how many hands have been on that pole since it was cleaned? How much flu and disease is transmitted by touching those poles. So yes, there are some reasons to complain. How about a back up power generating system so that when the public power goes down the trains keep rolling? So now am I banned from purchasing a subway card? by the way you could not drag me into visiting NY City. It is an abomination.
When men discovered horse shoes surely there were deaths in mining the iron, blacksmithing the shoe and an occasional brain of a by stander getting whacked by a flying horse shoe. When Columbus discovered America it was on a wooden ship. wooden ships constantly fell apart and all hands were often lost. That was due to the technology of building wooden ships. So maybe a rocket launch should be done several miles from any town or suburb. But anyone who think space related events will not kill people is just plain silly. I wonder how many people died in the process of making buggy whips.
I have to confess that in my younger days I was part of turning Ft. Lauderdale into a mess. i mover there in 1953 as a child and went to work doing such things as concrete work, clearing land, installing traffic and street lights and other things. like most people i had been told that making a place more desirable was a good thing as it attracted tourists as well as new residents who were impressed with area. What we did was create a horrible mess. People came by the millions to Ft.Lauderdale and surrounding suburbs. the town has killed off almost all wild life, polluted the waters, now has crime rates and morals of the lowest type etc.. Doing most of the work that I did has helped to ruin a good place to live. The public would have been better off if they payed me to do nothing. I am one of millions that should admit that. All i can tell you is that when you hear the word growth look at the person who wants growth as if he was Satan's best friend.
Common concrete does have its problems. Often it is not permanent but ages poorly, particularly in salt water environments. The use of volcanic schist to replace rebar is a boob to us all but adding other ingredients to concrete can create a much strong mix. That means that buildings could be made with thinner slabs and supports made of concrete. It may be a way to roll back some pollution and by making buildings more durable actually lower the demand for concrete. Also we just might come up with new materials that will totally eliminate concrete.
If you don't think computers are intelligent try some of the common chess programs. Yes, they have been around for many years and we do have the rules of chess programmed into them. But they do play uniques games that no mortal has ever played and they win. Try Lichess.org and play at level 8 against the machine. You might live long enough to win a game if you play chess endlessly. And that chess match is on a common game system. If you get into really advanced machines and programs the abilities of those chess machines make all of us look like idiots.
So now we must understand the unique expression of love for children by depriving them of an education, by the right wing. Isn't it odd that the right wing states that oppose abortion are also the states who offer the least for children? That means they want far more children born while they spend even lest to raise children properly. To keep it simple, right wing beliefs are severely irrational.
Although it seems to over control the population it does have some merit. Imagine a world in which those that behave well have far more privilege than those that misbehave. This could start early in life with credit given for those who do well in their studies, take on extras such as school sports teams, school bands etc.. Further those that wish to come and do maintenance for the school a few hours a week could start to step ahead of those that do not. Rewards for doing the right thing might offer a better life for all in society. Even if you are in a very low scoring group the people that feed and take care of the sick and homeless it my well be by volunteers who are earning more points. Look at some of the current people in our government. Many of them are terrible and items like being only allowed to live in low class housing might be wonderful for society as every time they get caught doing wrong their lives decline. As an example Trump has a terrible record socially. his cheating and crimes are well known. Instead of being president he should be allowed only the most humble jobs and living conditions.
Yes ! If we allow freedom of speech the people will all lynch each other! Therefore we have another wonderful reason to stifle free speech. It is rather like the gun controversy. Obviously if we allow people access to guns some people with shoot each other. And yes, when we allow razor blades some women kill themselves in the bath tub by cutting their wrists. Thus the nanny state is our new imperative. Obviously for every freedom there is some really negative result that attaches. Surely we must erase freedom completely.
Jobs are not a central issue for what is to come as jobs will virtually vanish. For example, in the past we took natural resources and apply labor and export products. That meant that the income taxes for the investors and workers supplied the government with money. But now we can take the human effort out of production. We simply use machines to turn natural resources into products for export. there are very few workers to tax and less jobs every few months. so what can we do. Assign a basic income to each person of $3,000 per month. Fro that require the person to select a stock to purchase and hold for 30 days. Those that made money on their stock could receive the profit or let it be re-invested in a separate account. income tax would only be calculated to the stock market earnings that you placed in a second, long term account. The investment requirement would be made on the same day that the pay check comes to you and you can not make any changes until the next pay day and then you must make the investment that same day. now the good parts are that since every person is assigned to different days of the month the stock market is made stable with more moderate swings in value. Next those that spent time and studied what they should invest in would establish a social pecking order which seems to be important for humans. So some people would still earn more than others. Those humans who remain in jobs will be highly taxed so that taking that $3,000 a month is attractive and the difference between working and non working adults is not so great. Obviously businesses might be facing heavier taxes. And that is fair. After all with little to no human employees all a business does is take from the common elements of this world and trade it for cash elsewhere with no particular good done for the citizens of a nation. The real fun may start when AI devices are defined as legal persons and they apply their massive intelligence to acquiring cash and control of other companies. Imagine a large company like IBM investing all of its resources perpetually in building ever smarter computers.
I have no issues at all with Facebook keeping data on me. To expect less online is foolish. If you want an experiment get a script for a diabetic meter. Your doctor will swear he never lets out information as will almost all drug stores. But within 24 hours the phone calls will start offering you diabetic supplies. I get at least one call a day from companies offering me supposedly better diabetic supplies. Sometimes i get three in one day. Everyone sells data. You can bet when you buy groceries that data is also collected and sold. You pay auto insurance on one car yet you purchased three sets of tires while telling the insurance company you only drive 20,000 miles a year. You tell the truth and say that you do not own a motorcycle and yet your credit card reflects you buying three or four gallons of gas twice a week on weekends. It turns out that your brother is over seas and you constantly drive his bike. The point is that we are entering an age in which honesty will be earned and cheating will be used against you. Why does anyone consider that wrong? The truth will set you free more often than not.
They are trying to create a path that enable them to tax robots. This is dangerous. The consumer ends up paying all taxes in th end. But think of the consequences of taxing every robot in a factory. They could have thirty robots tackling phases of creation of a product. In effect that would hold back automation and we would have an economic horror show as other nations may not tax robots at all. Say goodbye to American exported products.
Vertical farms are already proven and they can and should exist right inside the city as well as the suburbs. Some crops are more suited than others for vertical farming so selection is important. But thinking back there have even been chicken ranches in high rise buildings in cities. Both eggs and meat are raised and sold with the ground floor being the sales area. Fish farming is also another ideal crop for vertical farms. And the parts of a fish not usually eaten could be used to feed pigs in a vertical farm as well. On top of all of that the excess energy that could be captured by a high rise farm building could be sold to the power companies. The money and the investors are the first step and then trying various combinations will set off endless studies on just what tactics will produce the most profit. On top of all of that cities can use agricultural pieces of land for vertical farming in such a way that every neighborhood has distinct boundaries thus creating unity in neighborhoods. i have often wondered why more mushroom farms have not been created indoors. With mushrooms you don't even need grow lights.
To audit USPS will cost a large fortune. It is wasted tax dollars and the public should be offended. How about taking the millions that that audit will cost and assigning it to wounded soldiers instead of wasting it on a senseless, political red herring.
Imagine buying a Ford and being sued for using after market products on your car. That is exactly what Apple seeks on its products. The idea that a company can control a product after they sell it is absurd. You buy it. You own it. You do what you please with it! Maybe it is time for end users to sue when a product is made difficult or expensive to repair. A class action suit might be a real eye opener.
Once something appears on the web you can bet it is stored in numerous places on numerous devices. There is simply no way to erase it everywhere. Yes, a large site might be able to get rid of their copy but it can keep popping up forever. Next we come to another problem. Can any nation regulate the content of the web all over the world?
