Maybe should be a tag that is palinretard, that is more specific than retard (this is going far beyond that) and palin (you could be speaking about someone else with the same surname), is like saying damn hot or very wrong, is like retard++. If well is just one misplaced letter, you should not confuse that tag with plainretard, that is almost smart compared with this level.

The people in charge won't let that happen. It would change everything, and that will harm their profits. See how the potential of internet, of free interchange of information, all together pushing knowledge and mankind forward got badly crippled by copyrights, patents, lawsuits and so on. Getting to true AI is worse than just risking lives, it put business at risks, specially if another one have it, so all the ideas that could push forward in that direction are patented, taken, and not being able to be used by others that could have more pieces of the puzzle.

Now is a good time to see if the unstoppable force (the evolution of computers toward AI) beats the immovable object (legal system, economy, greed, etc). In the case of Internet, at least, seem to be losing.

A part (major? minor?) of what those banks have are their own people money. You MUST have your money in banks according to current culture/economy/whatever. So if those banks are gone that money will be too. And one thing is being kicked from your job, and another one being robbed of all your money (could not be a lot in the big scheme of things, but will be all for you).

Of course, the screams of the small guys regarding this will be nothing compared with the screams of the big guys, the very ones that financed the campaigns of everyone in the government right now (well, this works for every country)
