The Uberman has no need for "Animal Rights", as Human rights are what the weak hide behind from Darwin.
Personally I don't harass my cat, as he would claw my face off gleefully. But that's just me.
I love the idea of eradicating entire species of human-hostile insects.
If an alien species were to stumble upon our rock and declare that we were a virulent race of parasites, well then 'bring it on'. We can launch huge swarms of horrificly sterile tse tse flys at them.
Sorry but your enviro-sensitvity is making me sick. This kind of jack ass, kneejerk stupid asshole remark is the result of too many hippies not realizing they were exploited in the 60's and 70's and seizing control of publc education to render a generation of children docile and useless.
Heh, just last night I was caught in a dilemma: "I am lazy and I have to take the two drives full of Mac applications and work from G4 A. and transfer them into my pristine new G4 B."...
Both are running OSX.1 so I thought, "fine swap the drives out of each and swap them." but remember... i was feeling really really lazy. so then I thought, "hey just do a firewire transfer of both drives" since i can, it took longer (I don't have any drive image software yet for OSX) but all 5.5GB of apps and data from A. are now on a firewire drive.
So i slap the firewire cable into B. and boot it, all ready to transfer the entire mottled contents of A. to B. when, just for the hell of it I decided to see if Illustrator 10 would run from the firewire drive on the new box (it was never installed "formally" on it) Yeah, it launched, perfectly.
So did photoshop, OffficeX and everything else i tried.
This is why Apple gets it. This is why I have a SuSE Box, a Mandrake Box and a WIn2K box and even a WinXP box... but my main computer, my daily computer, the one I am typing this on... well It's titanium colored and you can crack it open without unplugging a single cable...
Let me get this straight, there are two boxes sitting on a shelf, one is from sony one from phillips, they are both cd burners, the phillips box has a bright yellow sticker that says, "phillips does not inhibit the legal copying of digital data" or better "the only 30X cd burner that lets you copy audio CDs and MP3 files!!!" and you are saying that Joe Consumer will still be too stupid to make an informed choice... who exactly is being ignorant (as opposed to stupid, thanks for filling me in on the difference Northwestern isn't that great of a university)?

Interesting, I have a a couple of G4 Towers and a G4 TiPowerbook. I have been useing Apples for many a year. Never once have they prevented me from burning MP3s onto my Nomad Juke or duplicating copywritten digital data (for my own personal use) to and from any other medium.
What Apple won't let me do is this: 1. Duplicate Apple system design or software for resale 2. Use Apple Logos and Branding to confuse or perpetuate myself as haveing affiliation with Apple or Apple corp Information.
What I am speaking to isn't just Sony coming down on people that Hack the doggy or the PS/PS2 boxes, It's that Sony has positioned itself through it's commanding leverage in say, the MPAA and the RIAA to lobby legislation such as the DMCA and of course the misguided attempt to get the RIAA almost federal authority in the "Patriot" anti-terrorism bill.
That is just vile. Show me how my beloved Apple has done anything anti-American other then force fruity flavored beachballs on it's consumers.
I wonder if a projection exists in the corporate organs of Sony that demonstrates how much loss of revenue and market share Sony Consumer Electronics Division stands to loose in the next five years thanks to the aggressive lobbying, litigation and posturing of the Sony media and content creation divisions.
It just seems to me that the money in consumer electronics is going to go to companies like Phillips and other (smaller) manufacturers that help consumers exploit and enjoy content any damn way they want.
Sony makes some marvelous and high quality components and gadgets, but revenue will go to the companies that offer devices that accommodate the way consumers want to use them, rather then devices that will accommodate the way a company wants to use consumers.

real solutions and did not flinch when you said dirty words like "Linux"
"Mac" or "Routers". I have never had that luck with any

Then it happened, the great Satan AT&T bought my beloved Mediaone Express
about a year ago. I knew then that I should have jumped ship. But nothing really
changed except the address on the bills, so... well, why not. I stayed.
Then once day I logged on and when I opened my browser... well looky that... it
was the great "non-shall-pass-until-you-obey" AT&T registration page, that I never
received the info-packet that was necessary to "obey"... well then, I
was f*cked, until I realized that if I went straight to the cable modem from the PC
(no matter the OS) there was no such directed url... well, hmmm... it was router blocks they were attacking... pissed at me for not buying extra IP.. Still I called and swore bloody murder and though
I knew I should have jumped ship...the guy on the phone (ex-mediaone mind
you) got me my info, set up a proper new email addy, had all my mediaone services
completely replaced with auto-responders and services that when I eventually
received my "info packer" were never mentioned and then proceeded
to instruct me on how to set up my programmable router to function exactly the
way it was with AT&T leaving my shit alone, all without their software,
their shitty IE browser, and they rest of the crap they insisted I must use
to remain a customer... so I stayed.
Well now I've been bent over and raped. I never got a message, an email, a
phone call, whatever. I just went to check email this morning and the "cable"
light is dead, no connectivity. Nothing. Then the calls from friends in the
area with the same service came in... yep. pooched. I read about the excite@home
problems, but it never mentioned my area, and the truth is... I never heard
of excite@home in my life. Hell AT&T@home, is like 11 months old around
here. So I call, all I get is this message, "If you are calling in regards
to broadband internet service, AT&T is no longer providing it"... what
the fuck, then they mention a phone number they are going to be installing soon
to call... heh.
I am jumping ship. forever. No more AT&T long distance, no more AT&T
digital cable (about time I got me a dish) and in two phone calls I set up DSL
service (I am going ameritech first because they can get me up the fastest but
I hate them too, so then once I am on and happy, a leisurely switch to Earthlink
DSL or whoever sucks less then ameritech). I am lucky enough that I live near
major trunks and hubs and pretty much can get whatever is offered. Oh and Ameritech
was kind enough to set me up with the dial up that I am using currently to post
this. Thank god my G4 had a built in modem that I almost forgot about since
all I have is another apple laptop with one... I haven't installed a modem in
a box of mine in years. Though... all my Linux boxen are now hung out until
I pick up a 3com.
My point is this, I knew AT&T was shit, have known it for a while and my
complacency f@cked me in the end. I really could not care if they restore service
this afternoon, or in 2-10 days. They are history, they f@cked me before and

well it's true, there is no reason that Linux can't be a superior game platform, it certainly has nothing to do with hardware limitation. the problem is this that Microsoft aggressivly went out and courted game developers, then they started the whole active/direct X program, while it was full of fits and starts ultimately it ensured that PC games led driving force behind PC sales and upgrades.
meaning it's wicked easier for developers to make stunning games on a Windows platform, and then it's stunningly more lucrative.
three years ago Steve jobs tried to start the same initiative and john carmack (who you should damn well know) was brought in to consult/lend legitimacy. still, three years later the state of Mac gaming is "much better" then it was but still "shitty" compared to what is released exclusively on Windows.
now the point i am making is this (and this refers to gaming so don't read too much into it), MS spends billions, and won. Apple Spends millions and stays alive, linux does not spend.
there are native linux games that kick so much ass, we should all be assless. and dammit, i will buy them, i will buy them all just because of the penguin on the freaking box.
but i like games. A lot. so I have to have a 2k box running. that's all there is to it. yes i have a PS2 and a Dreamcast and a game cube on the way. but that is for the tony hawks and the grand turismo's and the sports games. the stuff i prefer to play is not available on consoles (and would suck if they were) not available on Linux, and might be available for the Mac next Christmas (maybe).
So I hope WineX kicks all the ass left after all the native linux games got tired and stopped kicking so much ass. that way I won't have to duel boot my wee 12Gig laptop HD. and i can play Arcanum and Tux Racer on the same platform when i am out of town. (or hiding in my office)

there are native linux games that kick so much ass, we should all be assless. and dammit, i will buy them, i will buy them all just because of the penguin on the freaking box.
but i like games. A lot. so I have to have a 2k box running. that's all there is to it. yes i have a PS2 and a Dreamcast and a game cube on the way. but that is for the tony hawks and the grand turismo's and the sports games. the stuff i prefer to play is not available on consoles (and would suck if they were) not available on Linux, and might be available for the Mac next Christmas (maybe).
So I hope WineX kicks all the ass left after all the native linux games got tired and stopped kicking so much ass. that way I won't have to duel boot my wee 12Gig laptop HD. and i can play Arcanum and Tux Racer on the same platform when i am out of town. (or hiding in my office)
