I thought that High Definition TV was dead. Digital broadcasting with adaptors for NTSC / PAL had killed it. As somebody said, people prefer more / better content rather than better definition.
I found a book written in the 70s or the 80s. It warned of the computer era from a leftist viewpoint. Mass unemployment and such.
One of the points was that the surge of computer games (Atari,...) was a plan of the DoD to cast the kids into future combat pilots with superb eye-hand coordination. It was the time when electronics was still passing from military applications to the civilian mass-market.
they had no workplace skills that emphasized things like showing up on time or calling in if they were sick.
Funny. Certainly I am not the first to notice that Industrial-Age schools and Industrial-Age prisons are very similar to factories in terms of set times and hierarchy.
Imagine what if, in the future, IBM patents block some area that Microsoft is interested in. Since Microsoft has less patents, Gates could lobby against software patents, knowing that others have more to lose.
This reminded me of a Futurama episody where Bender (built from car parts) was bitten by the werecar (a Government project astray) and became a werecar itself, roaming the streets at night and causing havoc.
I read that, for some years, British TV had forbidden broadcasting representatives of Sinn Feinn (even MPs). The result was that dubbing actors read their interesting declarations. I don't know if they had better voices than the originals.
But they are very impractical as weapons of mass destruction.
For example, out of the thousands of people in the subway in tokyo where a bunch of wacko's sprayed sarin gas only 12 people were killed. 12 out of thousands. A success? I say no.
Yeah, but I can spell Shoko Asahara and Aum Shinrikyo, while I don't remember any manga or anime artist. Maybe it doesn't kill many people but it sure frightens them and helps making your name and ideas (distorted) well-known.
I'm only supposing that they came from the Great Satan's oppressive factories.
They could be Japanese or Korean or something else. I always find weird to see some Toyota or Isuzu pickup carrying a machine gun in some third world war.
If the photos are from an oil-rich country, they could be American cars.
all those warrior businessmen had a couple of decades of success with their slash'n'burn tactics, then kept going with it and drove one of the world's largest economies straight into the toilet.
As for 2WW, that can describe the Japanese way of making war.
As Jakob Nielsen says, "provide a special email address for each of the main commands: subscribe, unsubscribe, post discussion group message, etc. Keep the list short and there is a chance that users will understand it".
You should get better software if you can't get better users.
You made me think what kind of people would live in Gates' house instead of him. Suppose he dies or can't afford it. Who would buy it? What for? Imagine it full of squatters.
And by the way, would they find a sled named "Rosebud"?
How's this informative? This link is in the very short article.

Who and where is broadcasting HDTV now?

I laughed at that.

Sabotage is industrial, at least according to History (throwing "sabot" shoes onto the machines)
Is industrial terrorism an answer to industrial imperialism? It seems as reasonable as the non-industrial one.

Somewhere in Wired there is an article about Love By Mail, a service of robogirlfriends over DoCoMo by Bandai.
There is a very good quote: "My grandfather had the geisha, my father had the bar hostess, I have Love By Mail".

I'd had to see what tractor-trailers equipped with this kind of attitude do.
Try to catch Spielberg's "Duel". It was made for TV but in Europe it was released as a film.
Actually the driver is a human (or the Devil) but that isn't important.
I read that, for some years, British TV had forbidden broadcasting representatives of Sinn Feinn (even MPs). The result was that dubbing actors read their interesting declarations. I don't know if they had better voices than the originals.
Minsky himself has offered a reward to anyone who can successfully convince Loebner to stop running the damn thing.
Does "anyone" mean robots or humans?

We all know that "Open Sesame" is a traditional passphrase in the Islamic world. The connection is obvious.
There's only over a billion Chinese people, but let's just lump all their religions together.
Maybe I am an ignorant, but I thought that the main religion in China is pick-and-mix depending on the moment in your life and your necessities.

Um, RMS may stand for Redmond MicroSoft.
Funny, there is a picture of a plane on his back.
They will take my fingers from my cold dead hands.
not sending admin commands to the list

You should get better software if you can't get better users.
You don't have to sit behind a one-way mirror and watch a user rip the result of the last 3 months of your life to shreds.
That sounds interesting, if you are a lingerie designer.

What about a Slashdot interview with Bin Laden?
Would the Slashdotters be able to get something interesting out of him?
Why are libraries keeping mail one month old?
