I use cable + 3rd party isp (electronicbox) and I usually get BT speeds upwards of 500-700k/s down and a solid 110k/s up. (using all my up b/w, and about 90% of my down).
Check out dslreports there are tons of options that you end up not having to use rogers/bell. For example electronicbox only has 1/4 of there b/w from bell. the rest is from other long haul providers.
I pay a little more (70/month), but I *always* get my b/w day or night prime time or non prime time, and my packets aren't messed with. As a result of bell, they've actually been using less and less bell b/w. I'm happy to give them my money.
I bring work home... on my work laptop... Which everyone in the company is issued.
"work" never touches my personal machines, and vice versa, I have no need to bring personal machine into work, as I have my desktop, my laptop, my monitor for my laptop, and my 2 monitors for my desktop (standard issue equipment for SA). I'm not a consultant, and haven't been in 5+ years.
Standard issue at the company I work for is, desktop + laptop (everyone gets both Hr/sales/marketing/etc/etc/etc).
As for struggle to justify upgrades? you do realise it's cheaper to refresh desktop HW every 3 years, then to keep it running?
Every 3 years you're issues new HW based on the current profile for your job class.
And it's vice versa most companies i've worked.
Employee's get shiny toys, consultants get the shit, and or have there own laptop. (which I guess you could consider "personal").
Uhhh I've worked in IT for close to 12 years now, in well over 20+ companies (consulting, and moving around due to my girls school, etc).
And very very very rarely do I see people bring there personal machines into work (even in the old.com days when people would buy servers on there CC to help out the company).
So uhh... show me your proof of "more people bringing personal systems and monitors" into the work place please.
A full day? I reinstalled Vista last night, with patching up to last patches, plus all my apps and games. In about 2 hours. Not sure why your loosing a full day.
Can anyone recomend an alternate vip/viop provider. I'm looking for something with free LD in north America. And available in canada (so they don't have some weird rule about us company selling voip to the enemy (oh noez!!)).
AppleTV (media center) 2x Linksys AP (running WW-DRT to make sure I get coverage anywhere in the apt old concrete buildings are weird, the AP is in the living room but I can't pick it up in the bedroom). 1x Firewall (AMD Atlhon64 3500+) 1x fileserver (AMD X2 4000+) 1x My desktop (AMD X2 6000+) 1x Wife's desktop (P4 2.8) 1x Work laptop (MBP) 1x Wifes laptop (Dell 1420) 1x Xbox360 1x Wii 1x Dell 3500MP Projector (we use this as tv)
If you think will affect "important" (ie: not really but they think they are) people your silly. I'm sure they'll come up with a special pass that politicans get cause they "need" to travel a moments notice.
I wish the company would speak on this issue, Are they screwed, are they in danger (they'll never speak openly about it) but it would be nice for them to come out and say, were fine.. business as usual. Or come and say please look for an alternate provider, you've got 2 months.
You mean the headphones they hand out free? Not sure how you can fleece someone with a free product. I've been on 4 different airlines in the past year and the headphones were always free to use.
I'm sure they'd be happy to say you resist and taser the living shit out of you. You die? Oh well, 1 more terrorist dead. You complain about being tasered.. But think of the children!
Very well put.
You admit you haven't played? But state it never met your expectations... I call bs.
What is the reason to play any mmo? It's fun.....

So I guess it's just your backwards company.
But in a shittier capacity now.
Then you didn't have qmail setup properly. Adding to the issue. Thank you for moving to postfix.

... hacking and nunchuk skills is all you need to get ahead in life.
You don't say? Sure am glad I live in canada then.
Actuall in Montreal (up the street of ubi mtl).
I also work for an Americian Company for the exact reason I said.
It's cheaper to employee Canadians to do a job, then to hire the equivilant Americian.
My counterpart in the US who does the exact same job I do, makes 35k more than I do, so I do the same work, but cheaper). Hence, cheaper labour.
But hey, thanks for pointing the obvious!
It's called cheap labor, by native (reletivly altho in quebec dual lang) speaking english people. Canada is the new India.
