Slashdot is obviously challenging us with a trick question. The correct answer is "You don't. You want to buy a dumb TV and let the "smart" reside in the boxes you attach to it, boxes that perform much better and can be more easily and cheaply upgraded in the future."
Of course, Samsung and the TV industry masturbate to the idea of TV's being regularly upgraded like cellphones. They got addicted to all that phat cash they made when people moved from SD to HDTV and so now they're throwing everything at the wall to keep us constantly upgrading. It's why they're pushing so hard on 4K, even though you would need a HUGE screen (or be sitting VERY close to it) to even tell the difference between regular 1080p and 4K. Only idiots think they need a 42" 4K TV when the huge screen at their local movie theater is only 2K.
When you go through the upgrade process just make sure to select a custom installation and uncheck all the defaulted check marks of SEVERAL PAGES of privacy-breaking agreements and spyware permissions (some of which are downright chilling to read).
And don't allow that bitch Cortana anywhere near your computer. She'll screw you over just like she did Master Chief.
One example as a guest worker in a European country, I was not allowed to criticize the government
Are you serious here or joking? Because if that's true, it's beyond creepy. Everyone should be allowed to criticize their government (or anyone else's).
Well, if you're a horror fan, you won't find any game on the C64 that's scarier than doing the custom Windows 10 installation and seeing all the default settings for data collection and "privacy."
Seriously, there is some REALLY crazy shit in there. If you go default, you're basically giving MS the right to watch and collect EVERYTHING you do online. IIRC, one of the default settings even lets them go through your old emails to "better serve you" or some shit. That Cortana is one nosy bitch.
They likely don't need data caps now. They just want you to buy their Uverse cable/phone package. And putting caps on online cable alternatives is a great way to...ahem... "encourage" you.
The helpful folks at AT&T would like to remind you that they have a great Uverse cable package too....should your HBO Now/Sling/Hulu accounts be causing you to go over their new broadband caps.
I've not seen anyone forcing straight folk to enter into marriages homosexual folk. Can you say the same for your "side"?
Well, speaking for myself, I don't have a "side." I hate bible-thumping conservatives every bit as much as SJW hippies.
What I oppose is ANYONE who wants to restrict my right to speak my mind, or who wants to force me to pay lip service to their cause, or who wants to make their cause above criticism, or who wants to bully and threaten anyone whose only sin is to dare disagree with them. And that's true whether it's a bible-thumper passing some law to make Christianity the official U.S. religion, an SJW trying to enforce "hate speech" laws which make it "hate" to disagree with the SJW agenda, or a Muslim wanting to enforce Sharia law in some suburb of Britain.
The few people I have known who have actually used a Windows phone actually really liked them. I seriously considered one on my last upgrade. The only thing that kept me with Android was the uncertain future of Windows phone support and MS's tendency in the past to abandon its products. I buy a phone for the longer-term (I usually only upgrade every 5+ years or so). So I didn't want to buy a phone and have MS bail on me a year or two in.
Real cutting-edge hipsters are beginning to consider traditional Apple hipsters as poseurs. Retro Windows products and old mimeograph machines are so hot right now.
The magic of bacon is how often the nutritionists are magically transformed over whether it's bad for you or not (while some vegans try to sell us all on the magic of some nasty soy bacon).
It still saddens me deeply that a majority of people assume that it's only the governments of OTHER countries that are doing horrible, horrible things. I want to take everyone who has ever said "No, the U.S. government would never do something like that" and put them in a room and force them to watch documentaries on the CIA and all the horrific shit they did, and are still doing, in South America and many other regions. And they did it all with our tax money. And they're STILL DOING IT, right now.
Yeah, but let's not pretend that all scenarios are equally plausible, though. A terrorist attack is far more likely in this case than just about any other scenario save maybe mechanical malfunction.

Just thought I would be the first, though certainly not the last.

It's simple. Harassment and hate speech is anything that disagrees with me or that I find uncomfortable or offensive.
You're welcome.
I think people who disagree with my political views are engaging in hate speech. Can I get to decide?
Cause out of work factory workers sure aren't going to be buying them.
I shudder to think what the Furry community will do with this technology.

Yeah, good luck getting that law through all the Congressmen they've bribed.

When reality refuses to conform to what you want it to be, simply deny reality.
Earny scours a customer's email inbox for digital receipts, and then continuously checks the price on a retailer's website to see if it drops.
My privacy is already eroded enough without handing some random app access to all my emails.
no one has ever gave a fuck about seeing stories about games that are being released for the consoles & PC
Agreed. It if ain't available on Amiga, then I don't give a FUCK!
Payback is a BITCH!
Let's just say that Clippy is hot shit right now in all the hidden coffee/hookah clubs in north Tacoma.
Sadly, many non-Americans are in denial about what THEIR governments are doing too.
