Sometimes I wonder if the board at Samsung aren't a bunch of senile old Koreans who've completely lost any connection to reality. Anyone remember that crazy musical press conference they held a couple of years ago? It looked like what I picture Johnny Depp would see whenever he closes his eyes.
If the alternative is said abandoned house is left to become a massive health/fire hazard because no one is legally allowed to touch it and the rightful owners refuse either maintain it, tear it down or sell it, sure. Go ahead and live in that abandoned house.
So shady characters were using Swiss bank accounts? Really?
Laws are for poor people.
Don't believe it? Well, have you seen a single arrest of any HSBC employee for doing any of this? A single arrest for any of the customers who where committing these crimes? And even if you did see an arrest, do you really think they'll get convicted? Actually do any prison time?
"Sir, we caught a bunch of our webcam surveillance employees passing around a certain video and...this is embarrassing, but it apparently got out on the internet too."
Those are all political and social costs, not engineering. All it would take for nuclear to be a lot cheaper would be a change in the political and social attitudes toward nuclear power (so that plant construction didn't have to go through layers of NIMBY bullshit).
Great, now we can expect an influx of "Desi Arnez is a Batista crony whose capitalist show undermines the people! But that episode where they worked at the candy factory was pretty funny" posts on IMDB.
Perhaps, but that wouldn't explain the results of the difference in grading
Did anyone ever stop to think that boys are better, and more interested, in some things than girls (and vice versa)?
I'm getting very sick of the daily "It's our fault that there aren't more women in tech" SJW blame-fest here on Slashdot. Are there fashion industry sites out there with a daily "It's our fault aren't their more straight men in fashion" blame-fest? Because, if not, then STFU and accept that some groups are just more attracted to certain fields than others. What do you propose as an alternative, that people's career choices be FORCED on them?
We already have enough DRM, region coding, forced commercials on our blu-rays and DVD's, etc. to annoy our OWN customers. Why do we need the MPAA harassing them too, when we do it so well already?
Every time I think of Gamergate, I'm reminded of that scene in PCU where the protestors break out the blank placards and start writing the latest liberal cause-of-the-moment slogans on them. Some people are just always looking for an oppressor to blame for all their problems, and some cause to give their pathetic lives some meaning. And being the drama queens they are, they feed on any criticism as further evidence that they're being oppressed.
"Shutting down trolls" is all-too-often Silicon Valley speak for "silencing anyone who expresses conservative or controversial ideas." Gamergate is a great example. Anyone not screaming "Mysogyny!" and parroting the latest feminist line is censored on Reedit and many other forums.
It WOULD generate power, if people weren't holding it wrong!
Yeah, that's EXACTLY what Linux needs to make it less complex--another 1,000 forked distros.

Maybe they accidentally built a complex server application to deliver ads into video streams, kind of like you might accidentally slip in the shower.

That's exactly what I keep telling the cops!
It's also the primary reason that exchanges are so easily able to scam people.
I would have him in my home movies, if possible.
I just assumed they finally disappeared up Bennett Haselton's ass.
The USD only has value because people BELIEVE it has value. If everyone decided that the USD isn't trustworthy, it'd lose it's value almost instantly.
Bitcoin doesn't have the largest military/intelligence complex in the world willing to bomb the holy fuck out of anyone who challenges its value.

"What webcam was this video from?"
"Well, you see, that's the really bad part...."
I was thinking the same thing. "Bitcoin scam" is redundant. It's kind of like saying "worthless Kardashian."
Nuclear power didn't destroy Fukishima. Mother Nature did.

Most power is used in the middle of the day, when it's hot and everyone turns on their A/C.
You must not live too far north.
Solar is a useful supplement. But it can't replace a reliable form of base load generation like nuclear. That's true no matter how good batteries get.
If you think that's bad, wait until we deploy the WWE and Nascar apps.

it is the white mans fault
Hey now, that's not what they say. Don't distort what their words. They say it's the white heterosexual man's fault.
If the demand is really there, then go fill it.
Anybody taking bets if this will be good or bad for the customers and what are the odds?
It's Sony. If they're behind it, you can be sure it's bad for the consumer.
