    There is no reason any person cannot draft and file their own misdemeanor complaint.

    The court clerks might not know they're supposed to to take it, but in New York, a letter to the supervisiong judges office explaining the hang up usually results in a short reply of "Your filing will be accepted."

    NOW, will the DA "Decline to Prosecute?"... Maybe... But firing that first shot across the bows is well within anyones reach.

    I'm curious: do fellow Slashdotters find these programs helpful versus other ways of keeping track of snippets of information, such as e-mail?


    I've been cramming everything into a local TWiki installation. I dunno if I'll still be enthusiastic about it in a year, but so far, the free form context development and fulltext searching seem to work together well.

    I've started cramming anything I come across into a local TWiki installation.

    Seems to work well. Handles Text, HTML, attached files.

    CONTEXT is developed as you add stuff, *and* it has full text searching.

    I don't know if I'll still be enthusiastic about it in another year, but I've got a good feeling about this.

    Simple fix. Tin-foil wallet, and refuse to provide ID to anyone until you have inspected, and recorded the information on theirs, first.

    This is important to prevent IDENTY THEFT, and make sure the person requesting the ID is actually AUTHORIZED to use it. Oh, and if you wanna scan the magstripe into your POS terminal to prove that you're permitted to sell me booze, you'll have to fill out this NON-DISCLOSURE and USE AND AUDTITING AGREEMENT, first.

    NASA did the job once, but since then they've done nothing but screw shit up.

    It's time for Congress to get off their asses and ACT. Jerry Pournelle came up with the idea, which would get us a complete spaceflight system in five years, and only cost 10 Billion Dollars.

    How?

    Congress must pass TWO lines of legislation.

    1) It is in the National Interest of the United States to have a mature spaceflight technology.

    2) The Tresurer of The United States is directed to pay, tax free, the sum of TEN BILLION DOLLARS to the first American Company to keep thirty Americans alive and well on the surface of the moon for Three Years and A Day.

    That's it folks. If we ain't got it, it's cause BUSH and Co don't want us to have it.

    ( Not that Klin-ton wanted us to have it, either, though... This idea ain't new. )

    All we lack is the will to achieve great things. Killing kids over lies, that we can do. "Supporting Our Troops", check.

    Pass TWO LINES of legislation to ensure AMERICANS have a stake in The Future? Nah...

    The problem I had on 486 vintage tape drives wasn't so much the drive or media.



    A SCSI Controller, DAT or QIC drive, a copy of Lone-tar, and a bunch of tapes.

    Aside from needing to spend some money, what's the problem?

    Do you have a citation from the study which indicated the relative interest in the hypothesis?
