shame on you CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield for not covering it
FYI, assuming your plan is somewhat similar to mine (same insurer), they will cover it in a "clinical" setting (i.e., doctor's office). Of course the catch there is a lot of offices can't give it on a normal visit unless you are deemed "high risk" and you have to show up to one of the cattle lines, er "flu shot clinics". So there are ways to get them to pay, but sometimes it's just easier to pay the $30 like you did...
Yeah, the thing that surprised me is how many people were standing in line to use one of the three touchscreen boxes. There were about six spots to record your paper ballot, and only half of those were taken when I sat down to fill mine out...
Took me 30 minutes, including travel, at 2:30. Being able to work from home and vote in the afternoon is the best.
I never got any sort of plug-in install warning when running Firefox, and I have my browser warning settings at maximum verbosity. This plug-in was just "there".
That's pretty status quo for plugins. Extensions now have warning screens, etc., but plugins still tend to just show up unannounced.
This magical time when cable was commercial-free that you are 'remembering' never existed.
In the ACs defense, I distinctly remember Nickelodeon being commercial free in the early 80s. According to Wikipedia it started doing "traditional advertising" in 1984.
Nice theory, although if the couple of "atomic" clocks I have around the house are any indicator, it's not a great plan. They only can pick up the radio signal at night (something to do with the ionosphere IIRC), and this in my house with windows in every room. In a hospital? Good luck...
Communicating the importance and reason for the time off is as important as the date of your time off.
I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with you. At least in my opinion, the reason you want to take off is not really any of their business. Giving that information to someone with the wrong mindset can lead to them judging your reason isn't that important in their view. Vacation is an earned benefit, so it really should only matter if you think it is important.
(That said, in any good environment, you should be able to tell them of your plans. It just shouldn't be required.)
I can't stand the new plastic playground equipment. Back in the day, it was all metal, wood, and tires.
Well, getting rid of the metal slides isn't so bad... I hated when the thing had been baking in the sun all day and was too hot to slide down in shorts without burning myself.
So if they couldn't afford to take the call, why didn't they refuse it?
Because they'd have to explain it later and would probably end up in an argument about "aren't I worth the money", etc. On the other hand, "*beep beep beep* We're sorry, this number cannot accept collect calls" can be blamed on the phone company.

Everyone will be required to perform surgery every week.
Especially the patients.
Which ones death in an attack on an embassy should I put first?
... on a news site dedicated to nerds and technology. Hmm...

They are like little mini ads embedded in the guide.
That's doubly amusing when you consider there ARE mini-ads embedded in the guide...
Hammer smash robohand...
Why not just use radio instead?

Yes, until I can figure out how to get it to stop ringing the bell when it starts and sending ^? instead of ^H for backspace, I'm still using screen.
Arrrrr!! Write "you're" next time, or face a keelhaulin', ye scurvy dog!
A grammar pirate? Well, that's a new one...
Programmers belong in cubicles, criminals belong in jail.
You say that like there's a functional difference.
Yeah, jail cells are bigger.

Were you this guy?
The parent said "commuter train", so I'd assume he meant the VRE. As for the Metro... yeah...
three or four cars? embellish much?
Not if the parent drives in metro DC...
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. You wouldn't happen to have an MSI would you?
Funny, I just went looking for such a beast, being sick of fighting with their usual installer...

Every once in a while I hear about a responsible drinking program and I think 'bravo'.
Wait, isn't "responsible drinking" an oxymoron?
Why the term "snowflake" in the summary? Not enough racism going around to suit Slashdot these days?
It's not intended as a racist term, at least not when put together with "precious". See:
It has origins in the old sayings about every snowflake being unique (hence, "precious").
I mean, doesn't Photoshop CS5 sound so much better than Photoshop 12?
No?

That's a noun, "libre" is an adjective. Off the top of my head, I can't think of an adjectival form for "liberty".
Thank you for that... I've been trying to figure out why LibertyOffice sounds so bad in my head. Now I think I know why.

Why do you keep saying that?
Space Debris Section should have been tasked to retrieve Galaxy 15 long ago.
Sorry, it'll be another 60 years or so before Half Section is operational.
