Works like that for US radio stations. Since forever US radio stations do not pay a penny in royalties. Contrary, many got paid to play specific songs more frequently. The "payola" approach was eventually deemed illegal.
So how come a megacorp radio station chain can get music for free to run a for profit business but we have to get nickled and dimed for it? Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that nobody should pay royalties, but it is either everyone or nobody. What needs to come with that is a reform in copyright and significantly more transparency in the decision making and money flows of BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC. It is well known that most of the money in royalties does not even end up with the artists or right holders, but that many along the way grab greedily without delivering any value whatsoever.
It will now be up to browser manufacturers to come together and not implement EME. Wouldn't be the first time they willfully ignore W3C standards. This time it would be welcome. Without a browser offering support for EME the whole issue becomes moot.
Therein lies the rub. Cord-cutting is not really as a substantial savings as many claim it is. All the discounts for bundles are out the door and there is currently no service that provides broadcast content at a lower price compared to cable companies. Of course, the savings come when all you sign up for is slow broadband, watch YouTube only, and get the rabbit ears out. But that's comparing apples to oranges.
DMCA is clearly not the best tool, but as a game company there is little else in the arsenal to disassociate the company from dipshits like Kjellberg. The only other options I see are a press release that gets no attention or reporting it has hate speech to YT with the request for takedown. Claimimg copyright infringement has a far bigger chance of success although it still is rather small.
I think DMCA is really bad legislation. But it is on the books and we should not fault others making use of rights granted. Dissing Campo Santo is barking up the wrong tree. Get on the line with your congress person and have them fix copyright. My suggestion is to have copyright on creative work expire after 20 years. After that it is considered public domain. Maybe it is 15 or 30 years, not sure what the golden number is, or maybe it still reserves the right to request permission of use but no licensing fees. What needs to end is that the nth generation after still leeches off the work from someone they are often not even related to.
You are implying some motive that isn't there. It's like one saying "I like cabbage" and then others implying that person does not like any other vegetable. Your conclusion is severely flawed.
Black lives matter never implied that other lives do not matter. That aspect is only implied by those who do not want to or have not understood what that movement is about.
Even then, what does that say about the CEO who puts someone who appears to be unqualified into such a position? Nevertheless, we are speculating here. I didn't make my career in the field of study of by degrees and for my current professional field I do not have any certs although there are several available. I just don't see how a certification would advance me in my field unless I want to go into management. I don't, because then I'd have to deal with pesky people like me.
I hope that clown gets a reprimand and the C-level manager in charge of security gets fired. You need to kick out the big heads, not the grossly underpaid and grossly overworked peons in IT.
This is what I thought about TJX back then as well. Equifux will have a bad quarter and after that it is business as usual. As security measure they will change the password on Admin accounts to either "God" or "Password123".
How much money do you think you get back from your purchase for sales? All you do is enable Cook's lavish lifestyle and reward a company for making junk products. If you want to do something good for yourself stop wasting money on Apple and sell the stock.
Fair point, but are you arguing that overall cost per unit is much closer to the 200$ retail price? R&D expenses are one time expenses that add a diminishing cost per unit with more units sold. Let's be generous here and add 20$ per unit for such expenses....although I am not sure how much R&D is needed for well established technology. Still, pegs expenses to 36$, let's add 14$ for distributor and retailer, brings the expenses to 50$. Asking 200$ is still an unethically huge markup. For that price these puppies better work even after a bus drove over them thrice.
By now people should be well aware that Apple stuff is of craptastic quality and grossly overpriced. Those who keep buying it anyway are beyond a point where a court of law can help.
There should be no lobbying where money changes hands (like Boehner did when handing out checks from the tobacco lobby on the House floor) and all and every lobbying activity has to be publicly announced at least a week before it takes place. Can't have democracy without transparency.
Use paper ballots and a pen, list all candidates / parties and have voters make one cross at the candidate they want to vote for. Then collect all those ballots in sealed ballot boxes and after voting ended do a manual count that is open to the public. Sure, it will take some time, but I rather have reliable results slowly than wrong results fast. This is not the case where failing fast is a good thing.
Struts or not, the sole blame is with the greedy morons running Equifax with apparently the same take on security as they had in the year of their inception. Why do they even collect and store that much information and hold on to it for that long? I know, it is to generate a credit history, but I am sure there are equally good ways to determine if I pay my bills or not.
Probably both...but they forgot to include Trump's account. I doubt hate speech and libel are covered by the terms of use.

Should make a study about Diesel trucks, especially in the US where trucks have barely any emissions restrictions.

Why wait until January? This feature is long overdue.

They should have spent the 500,000$ on system security instead of lobbying. We all would be better off.
....the same way you do with Java. It's only fair.
BOINC figured it out. Loads computation tasks on any system.
I am sure you can still unplug the unit. Maybe they can make it into a hot plate or a griddle.
Sounds like a Groupon to me.

Trump already explained it, it is a Chinese hoax. All this talk about hurricanes is fake news!
