Can your fully functional legs carry you 12 mph for 5 miles?
Maybe, but I'd be exhausted. A bicycle can help me do the same at less than 1/10th the cost, in a more env friendly way.
Actually, I'd like to play with a segway, but it should cost 1k, not 5. I think that is about the cost the market will bear. If it is not enough to make a little profit, then this IS a product ahead of its time. =(
Well, the problem with MDI was that you had to manage all the windows thru another window. This was a pain for knowledgeable users and utterly confusing for newbies.
While tabs are practically the same idea, you don't have to manage anything, and the windows don't get hidden/lost, etc.
The misconception comes from the fact that other OS's have had remote admin capabilites built in for decades, while it was added two years ago to windows. XP might be the first version to have them included on install.
So increase the font size, idiot!!....Sorry, I've heard this stupid complaint about increased resolution so many times it makes me angry now. Better resolution is your friend!!!
What are you talking about? We play wc3 every night at work 6-12 players at a time and it is the funnest most addictive game I've ever played. The graphics and efx are beautiful.
That doesn't mean it is the best ever, but it is certainly very far from, "sucks."
It can be beat, you just have to exploit its weaknesses. Like drawing its army into towerville, wiping it out, then killing each new solder as it comes to fight.
Another thing I do is to fight against 2 or more computer players on different teams and try to get them to fight each other while I tech up.
Not that fun, I agree, but I've never played any game where the computer was as fun to play as a skilled human.
joel's cool, but his examples on this issue are crap.
He obviously doesn't understand subpix sampling on lcd screens for instance. Cleartype and similar are a godsend and improve my font resolution like 5x.
Apple is getting beat up about how it's machines aren't keeping up hardware-wise....
On top of that the main browser on the system, IE, isn't well optimized, and is not MS's priority.
Apple says to itself, "We need a FAST browser, now!"
Their selection shows me that they valued speed over anthing else when choosing technology for this project. Looks like a good decision for them at this point, and now khtml will benefit also.
I'm open to the idea of how these things work, but I wonder....
How is this different to what I do now?
1. Put all my data in one place, nice and organized by type. 2. Use long, meaningful file names 3. Search the folder with windows search doggy? 4. If filenames don't find it, have the search doggy look inside the files for keywords.
I don't see too much difference, especially now that it is easy to add extended keywords to files in explorer. Linux has plenty of functionality too.
Well, "code" is vague. Of course html is a document format, not a programming language, but I think you could code a document if you wanted. Think morse code.
And... you don't have to compile a file for it to be programming.
Bull. Just because MS f'd it up, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with html email.
Now scripts, that's another story. I use mozilla for mail, and java and javascript are off by default. I can use html mail if I want, no problem.
I wouldn't use outlook anything with a ten foot pole and it has nothing to do with html !! =)

This makes all the difference.
Bull, I've got the I2 900 on my desk right now and it runs i386 Office XP no problem.
Pokey occasionally, but no big deal.
The misconception comes from the fact that other OS's have had remote admin capabilites built in for decades, while it was added two years ago to windows. XP might be the first version to have them included on install.
Old impressions die hard.
how do you make NT headless?
I mean other than disconnecting the VGA cable? It is mostly unusable at that point, no?
Umm, you do know that this is some python scripts with gpg, don't you?
So increase the font size, idiot!! ....Sorry, I've heard this stupid complaint about increased resolution so many times it makes me angry now. Better resolution is your friend!!!
Dufus. You shoulda been born in a shanty-town, then you'd get to see what it's like to choose to be poor.
That's not to say people don't have responsibilty for themselves, but they share it with their environment.
Darwin never said or wrote that phrase, which has been used as an excuse to wipe out the weak.
You can blame Herbert Spencer for that.

I wont go back now =)

Wins all around, and I still love mozilla!

Maybe it is about a simpler interface.
oops, should be "before that, netscape..."
hmm, sounds like you need to choose your friends better. =)
I've never recieved an email virus and I've been on the net almost 10 years now.
I do however use mozilla and before that for my mail, so you mileage may vary.
Plasma is lousy for a monitor. It's good for TV though.
LCD is much better for a monitor. Too pricey for a large TV.
that's cite.
yeah, says MS is #72

I think I'll go code my webpage, right now. =)
Please elaborate.
It is well known the first nodes were US universities, funded by Uncle Sam. I'm sure people from around the world contributed, but what is your point?
Latvia is .lv, I know cuz I have a friend there.
.la, on the other hand I don't know, and am too lazy to look it up now, but I'm sure a few secs of googling would turn it up.
Hey don't be too hard on ole bmg. They're the only place I can find new cd's for about $5 a piece.
cdclub
And didn't they buy napster? Seems like they are thinking about the future at least.
