I agree with the part of grown up issues. I work with some single 20's people living with their relatives, they have all sorts of time to tinker like I used to. For me it's errands, chores, picking kids up, and so on. When I take a class for school I am just trying to get the work done, and I really do not even have the time for that.
I do not think all knowledge is obsolete, I think I have picked up enough functional knowledge that I do better than younger people with some new tech.
The more you know the less you know, outside of the box, any concept of history, critical thinking. Question everything, but at the same time you also have to, for the most part, accept what we have. Question whatever you want, just have the proof to back it up. Most people should understand the imperfection of our concept of reality. Are eggs good or bad for you? Are humans causing global warming? If you jump off a bridge will you survive? I am sure there are levels of the "what we think we know and do not know". Has much in the way to basic math or chemistry changed? We still go by 1+1 is 2, protons and electrons, is this a Zoloft commercial?
A10 second search says common phrases can be trademarked, but you will not be in violation of them as long as you would not be "likely to confuse the average consumer and make him or her believe the ____ is endorsed, sponsored, or approved by the owner of the trademark." For me "just do it" comes to mind. Really I think there is no way this crap should get a trademark. I would say something like "have a coke" could qualify. I guess I am just picturing a bunch a parodies, bums on the street yelling "just do it!" trying to get you to buy some crap. Eh in closing, you want to trademark some phrase, your stupid name should be in it. Someone else wants to say "Have a carbonatedpoopdrink" I don't care.
I had a manager who would say "the thing is" or "that's the thing is" in every other sentence. I kept track once with a pile of screws, 70+ in under an hour.
I think continuity is a good thing. I am sure you can look up some examples of "you will not believe the amount of backstory that went into this". Yeah, the Simpsons clearly do not try, and poke fun of themselves all the time. I think as you get more serious shows you should try a little harder. You want to make your world interesting, then you have this design in you mind. Obviously not a substitute for story, nobody is going to care if you name every street you walk down in a boring story. Some shows we just have to give the windows me / vista treatment to. As for the blatant flubs, the bigger the flub the more I hate it, it is already some crazy story, do not exasperate the situation. One I can remember being peeved about was the who knows latest reboot of spiderman. They had someone to make up real formulas on the chalkboard, only used special effects when they had to, and so on. If it is a serious movie then yeah, do not screw your shit up, is this some fake ass action movie, sure you can fire full auto for 40 min. Is this supposed to be real world? Then do not cock your firearm 10 times. Splitting hairs is one thing, cutting off your toe is another.
Kind of seems like you would. In order to pay for this you need to tax someone. The people being taxed are the ones who work. Seems there is incentive not to work, and not be taxed.
"Not including Social Security and Medicare, Congress allocated almost $717 billion in Federal funds in 2010 plus $210 billion was allocated in state funds ($927 billion total) for means tested welfare programs in the United States" 318.9 million people in the US. $2,907 divided out.
I do not see how, even if more people worked, and the administration costs were less, this would be possible without raising taxes greatly. You will end up taxing people who work, which will just eliminate their basic income portion.
Maybe this can work in some situations, I have no faith in my fellow Americans if this came here. Every able bodied person I have ever known who received unemployment milked it to the last day. Anybody making under 12 dollars an hour complains how much their job sucks and would quit in a heartbeat if they could.
up til a few years ago a company I was working for was still using a 286 to store their catalog mailing list. They didn't know how to ever take anyone off the list though, so we would get calls every year from the same person asking to take their dead husband off the list. They would print this list out on a dot matrix printer and it would have to be entered by the people who did the catalog. They were using a typewriter to do the billing also.
As far as non tech they still use manufacturing equipment from the 60's. I am sure that is fairly common with small businesses, like a shoe repair place near here that still has all the old machines going.
In other countries if your advertisement is misleading or false... you can be fined or otherwise penalized under "trades description" or "false advertising" laws.
For some reason we have no such laws here in the US.
That really really really needs to change.
There are laws in the US. I am sure the advertising legal teams know just how much to bend the rules to not get in trouble most of the time though.
You also have things like product placement in TVs and movies.
Everything in a store is pretty much advertising, what isle, what shelf, the packaging. Otherwise everything would just be in plain brown packaging.
I try and avoid advertising as much as possible, I really don't really buy very much anyway, but if you have ever picked up a newspaper, magazine, accidentally clicked on something that said "sponsored", been somewhere with a TV or radio on... it's really hard to avoid everything.
thinking the mob is more about threats than action. Is it really worth the risk to bring murder to the table? They don't want the heat. I bet the guys would have been fine if they jumped ship and kept their mouths closed.
It's not like they were really "running the it department", more like got involved in one IT gig.
I know someone who bought a prius to save money. First they bought it used. The gap closes quite a bit compared to other cars. Two, they do mostly city driving. There is not one simple formula. Of course you do have to be careful about the dealer charging 275 dollars for a headlight... 30 on amazon though...
Or it could be guy comes up with great solution. Gets promoted. Does not have to worry as much when the next tech upgrade kills his job. If you can come up with a solution that will eliminate your job, you should be promoted.
The winter finished them off, but last summer the hive seemed healthy, the warm nights the bees were bearding. Then one day they did not anymore. A few days later hundreds of dead bees outside the hive all with their proboscises extended. I know this is just my one example, I would not be surprised if on a larger scale it has to do with dozens of other factors. It's just sad to see my hive done in by pesticides.
They couldn't understand why it was more professional to have companyname@sales.com, so they still use AOL email. Though I heard stories how they had to fight for a fax machine, credit card machine and so on.
Yeah.. my thinking also... this thing seems kind of silly anyway. Seems like they would know pretty fast none of the passwords work. Maybe if they worked with the sites and had a "distress password" which would open up a fake account and start logging information. But again, lots of complication, if they have gotten to your password manager there is already a problem.
Millennials have never known anything but a 15 year recession, their entire working career. I wonder also if they breakdown stress levels by age. What kind of job in IT is an 18 year old working anyway? Where I work, after you have been there 20 years it seems like it is almost impossible to be fired. Everybody else gets paid 1/3 as much and does 3X the work.
Maybe higher IQ means you are not just focused on looks, money, power etc. Those things will not bring you joy. You see how stupid the world is, and as smart as you are there is no way out.

Better to spend your money making a fake list, or lists, mix them up, say it's a scam to extort money.
If this was the US.

Although you can make the start menu smaller than what is shown.
It takes about a dollar to wash and dry a load of clothes, there is no way he is able to buy all new clothes for a dollar.
I am down with the concept of simple living, he is probably going to push people away from even trying because of how stupid he sounds.
Oh yeah, not production, but in 1999 my high school was still using Apple IIe's for their computer programming class.

Do you want to find out if the bank really is liable? How many hoops, lawyers, and time will it take to be resolved?

Next time lean your head horizontal and pour water in your ear. Happened to me... this was pre Internet with home remedy books though.
So pretty much the money is just going to a politician.
